Top Ten Kart Racing Games (Early 2013 Edition)

SuperPhillip Central writes, "2012 saw the release of two terrific kart racing games: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and LittleBigPlanet Karting. That got me in the mood to come up with a list of the all-time greatest kart racers through the opinion of yours truly. From Mario, to Sonic, to Sackboy, which characters burn rubber the best?" (3DS, Crash Team Racing, GameCube, Little Big Planet Karting, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart DS, Nintendo DS, PS Vita, PS3, Retro, Sonic And All-Stars Racing Transformed, Super Mario Kart, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360)

Wow I hated diddy kong racing, i think it was the worst one on the list and the author made it number one, I liked Mario kart 64 way better then most games in general, it should have been number one. I also own LBPK and it's real good to, would put it in second. Then the sonic transformed in 3rd

Mario kart 64 is really, really overrated. The tracks are the most boring in any Mario Kart game, including the first one.

In more recent Mario Kart games, that have tracks from the previous ones, is even easier to see this. All the other tracks are more challenging and fun. The 64 ones are just too long, the roads are too large, and there are too many straight roads that nothing happens.

While Mario Kart 64 was the better game, Diddy Kong racing was also a great game that did things no game has done since.

There was a story mode within it that was cool to work through. It felt like a mini car adventure kind of.

Mario Kart 64 was one reason why I still had faith in the N64 when it came to racing games; then I discovered Gran Turismo. I'm surprised No Gran Turismo games, Forza, or even Rogue Squadron made honorable mention if not part of the list.

This is about kart racing games, not racing simulators.

love mod nation racers. The amount of user generated levels and characters are insane and build system works really good. LBPK has nothing on Mod Nation and ive played both. Mod nation is def. my fav. Kart game along with Mario and Sega all stars.

I have to agree. I gave LBPK a miss as it did not seem fun at all. MNR was a very close game to Mario Kart in terms of fun and I also got it for the PSV as well but my only issue with that was turning off the Online play with it as to me this is what keeps the life on the game but imo Mario Kart 64 and DD are the two best kart games followed by MNR.

Can't decide which one I like better: Mario cart 64 or the original on snes. Both are classics I still play routinely.

People hate on the first 2 Mario Kart games for their track design but I love it.

Simple isn't always worse. Sometimes it = balance.
