MasonicGamer.com: For today’s Retro Corner I’ve decided to look back at a PSOne classic, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Originally I was considering talking about the superior sequel but decided I wanted to focus more on where I got started with the series rather than where it peaked. You’ll find Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater on a number of different systems but I’m going to be focusing on the original PSOne version that I played back in 1999.
Richard writes: "Pro Skater 1 was a good introduction to the world of skating to millions of gamers, but it was the second one that truly perfected the formula and created a masterpiece. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 took everything that made the original and turned it up to 11."

I was so sad when I saw number 1. But then I had the realization, and I definitely agree. Their number one is my number one. I think it perfected the classic formula without feeling too bloated, and all the levels were bops!
Thought I'd throw a curveball in there haha. But yeah, I just think the levels for THPS3 were just unbelievable. :)
Pro Skater 2 I think was the one for me. I remember playing the demo for that level from OPM for hours until the full game released. Pause and hit retry before the timer ran out to find all the secrets!
Yeah I agree. That time in my life where I was in my first apartment and friends would come and it would always be running. People were all around doing different things but THPS2 was always on and someone was battling, sometimes on 2 different TVs. the soundtrack was great also so it was blasting. Good times, few worries.

Why is American Wasteland so low on the list? I personally like it better than all the Pro Skater games.
Its low on the list, because its a shit list. Putting the PS1 games before most of the PS2 games is laughable. Putting THUG 2 ahead of THUG 1 is ridiculous.
Straight up terrible list, filled with incorrect information. Not that I was expecting anything of value to begin with, nearly no one out there actually understands or appreciates the later excellent games in the series.

That bad huh? Not even worth $1.99 bad? I would have sworn that there was a new Tony Hawk Pro Skater game in development, I might be confusing that with this "HD remaster" however. Loved the 1st two THPS games back in the day, they were tons of fun with killer soundtracks! I remember buying my little brother the 1st Skate game after it released, he was big into skateboarding at the time. I didn't have a lot of experience with the game but what I played was fairly realistic, with great visuals and physics for the time. Skate 3 released back in 2010 so we're way overdue for a worthy skateboarding game, a Skate 4 could be really good with today's gaming tech. advances and hardware capabilities. It will never happen but could you imagine a skateboarding game utilizing a physics engine like Euphoria that's used exclusively in Rockstar games, it would be incredible.
Saying you like the first two THPS and quote a song from THPS 3 lol. Anyways, I really want a true remake of THPS 4 or THUG 1.
@madforaday I thought Ace of Spades was in THPS 1 or 2, didn't know it was in 3. I liked 3 as well. All 3 games had excellent soundtracks. It's been so many years since I've played them though, it's easy to get them mixed up.
It's worse than the games before it in the series (ignoring Tony Hawk Shred) but it's still worth $2.
