Nintendo Insider writes: Despite petitions, rumours and swerving comments, Crystal Dynamics have seemingly struck the final nail in Wii U owners hopes of Tomb Raider being ported to the platform.
“I think something like the Wii U often asks you to do something unique, based on a unique interface so that’s something as a gamer I love but it’s something that you don’t want to do half-heartedly as a developer.” That doesn't sound doubtful at all as far as being able to do it. It sounds more like they don't want to half-ass any potential gamepad functionality. Hey Crystal Dynamics? I'm no expert but... off-TV play? It certainly wouldn't hurt the game.
this is just an lame excuse why they won't make the Wii u version which is wrong wii u need alot of 3rd party support exclusives are what makes the console and define it but it just can't relay on 1st part support only
There is no reason they have to force the touchscreen controls at all. Sure it wouldn't be bad if they did port it to use it for something, even rudimentary. I'm rather surprised they didn't have a port planned from the beginning, as it would likely be a seller on the system right now.
port the game and use the Pro Controller...that's all they have to do. Its not required to use the Gamepad, so if its that hard to come up with something innovative.....then don't!
Yea but wheres the incentive to buy it for the Wii U if they don't take advantage of the main features the Wii U offers?
What's the incentive to buy a PS3 version over a 360 version??? Or one of those over a PC version? The point is its MULTI platform....yet excludes one!
If it isn't Tomb Raider, then I wonder what Straight Right are already porting for Square Enix>
Its got to be Final Fantasy. Or something they haven't announced yet.
I'm seriously tired of this! Developers don't have to do something special. they could design it around the pro controller. If you don't have one, then the could just hanger a blank screen and allow for off tv play.
It's not even that really, why delay all the other versions of the game when those are almost ready to ship for a brand new system they've only had the dev kit for for half a year to a year. 3 years work in less than a years time will just be a mess. They could do a port and ship it later but they will have to hear the annoying backlash of "oh it's an old port on a new system" like the launch titles got even those most reviewers say they are the same or slightly better than the originals. Why do a port when you could finish the current project for last gen then focus on the current (next gen) systems. This is just like when the vita came out and every single game that was about to be released people demanded a vita port, it's really annoying honestly.
That's a good point though. I'd probably get the ps3 version anyway(which is pre ordered) because a rushed port is never a good port. Like the Wii U version of epic mickey 2.
Crystal Dynamics: now that's an OLD company.
Now I'm curious lol
im very sure a wiiu tomb raider port is on the way to the wiiu with added extras.
