Don't Be Afraid To Try The Original Fallouts

Just because they're old doesn't mean they aren't worth revisiting.

The three first "Fallout" games are still pure RPG gold in the current year imo.

VenomUK18h ago

@TheGamer I haven’t tried the original 2d games because I’m so afraid.

shinoff218316h ago

Don't be afraid. I actually started fallout with 3 back in the day and so I went to play the ogs. I like the ogs more. We just didn't have a pc as a teen.

ocelot0719h ago

I agree I played the original 3 a few years ago and they are fun. I feel this needs to be said though. Console players don't have access to these games and that's a shame. However, If you have any sort of windows laptop you can play them they are really old now a basic office pc can play it.

I also want to say is Fallout Brotherhood Of Steel on the PS2 the first console Fallout game. It gets hate for no reason. I enjoyed them more than the originals. I believe it's on Xbox as well. Anyone with access to a PS2 or Xbox or emulated them on pc. It's a fun game to play. Don't get why it was hated on.

anast19h ago

"Console players don't have access to these games and that's a shame."

These games will run on just about any low end laptop/PC/tablet and they cost next to nothing. I'm 100% positive no one is missing out that actually cares to look into these games.

shinoff218316h ago

That's the bad thing. They re did wasteland for xbox. I know they are 2 different studios but why hasn't the orginal fallouts been done for console. I played on pc but I'd rather play on console with a true controller experience. Is bethesada afraid to be shown up by the source material where their game comes from

anast19h ago

The series peaked at Fallout 2 and started going down hill from there.

purple10118h ago

Don’t think I’ve played any Bethesda games except Quake 3 team arena on pc back in the day!

a lot of their games are slow and boring to me, + as people always say, full of bugs and crashes!

Not what I want, from a full priced game,

Huey_My_D_Long18h ago

I mean Fallout 3 hasn't been full price for over 10 years. FO NV is like 5 bucks on sale. I understand not paying full price for their games, but every FO game out when on sale is just dirt cheap.

purple10118h ago

Yeh the fallout ones in question are all cheap
I’m talking Bethesda as a general remark

Smellsforfree17h ago

Neither Quake 3 or Fallout 2 are "Bethesda Games". ZeniMax Media purchased id software in 2009 and also owns Bethesda.

purple10116h ago

@smells, my bad I got I wrong good point, I assumed doom and quake are from same people and both Bethesda. but yeh, id tech FTW, did you know, both all the halo games, and modernwarfare games, all the way up to 2019 version of MW, are based off a modified quake 3 engine., interesting snips of info for the people, so yeh these companies kept selling technically a game from 1999, heheh, makes me laugh, only in 2019 did they create new engine from scratch, THATS 20 YEARS

Hate turned based worlds. Tried playing 1 10years ago and couldnt figure out howto get past 30 feet.

shinoff218316h ago(Edited 16h ago)

Added a disagree. Then I didn't feel right about it lol. So took it away. Just wanted to say that's a shame cause your missing out on some great games. Turn based are my personal favorite but I play everything except music games, and racing.

mkis0073h ago

I'm going to try again after reading about how to start...I do like the world...not a fan of a timed main quest though.

Well no shit, Sherlock.

Glad you're on the case.

Xbox Reportedly Working to Release Next Fallout Game "Sooner Rather Than Later"

According to a new report, Xbox knows the next Fallout game has to release sooner rather than later and is working on it. Following the release of Starfield, Bethesda Game Studios is now working on The Elder Scrolls 6. And this is what it's going to be doing for the next several years. This means the next Fallout game is probably not going to be out until the 2030s unless something changes. To this end, Xbox knows it has to change something and get something out sooner.

Just bring the quality and hopefully some gameplay refinements.

Like build a new engine if you make me have a 45 second load to enter a building and exit a building on 9th gen hardware to your game is just taking the piss it's absolutely down to the engine and not the hardware it should have been possible to eliminate this load on the PS4 Xbox one but they failed to while other games like witcher 3 and GTA v had no problems with this.

Like all Bethesda games they really need to also address the ultra stiff character animation the dialogue scenes are not great and even in starfield they were substandard compared to other games look at how character interactions are done elsewhere it's far more engaging when you are not standing still talking

Cacabunga1d 23h ago

I don’t like the sound of «  Sooner than later » especially coming from Xbox

fr0sty1d 23h ago

Most especially coming from Bethesda, a company known for releasing buggy games, while they are busy working on 2 other projects with MS breathing down their neck to rush this one out while the TV show hype is still hot.

Walalon1d 21h ago

The thing is coming from Xbox and Bethesda... That's the formula for a pretty big disaster.

raWfodog1d 20h ago

I would think building a new engine would add significantly more development time than less, unless they implement AI tools to aid in the develelopment time. But that’s another whole can of worms entirely.

Crows902d ago

This is a problem....let the games be. Maybe try to get something out by the time next season rolls around. You've got time. If the fallout show continues like this then it'll be fine to wait and invest in a good game.

-Foxtrot1d 23h ago (Edited 1d 23h ago )

I think people are missing the point of this

It’s not rushing a releases for next year it’s Microsoft knowing Bethesda won’t get round to Fallout 5 until 2031 at the earliest and want it to become a franchise that can come out within a typical 4-5 year development over every 15 or so years.

Bethesda took it upon themselves to do a new IP with Starfield which is fair enough, it's great to see studios wanting to do new IPs but in the process of doing that they've created a massive gap for sequels to their other games.

They just don't want to give their franchises away to another studio because I feel after New Vegas they are scared someone else will be able to create a better game to them. If Obsidian were giving a full lengthy development time and a bigger budget I think New Vegas could have been bigger and better than it was.

Psychonaut852d ago

Bro let one of the other studios under Bethesda do a spin off.

Shane Kim1d 23h ago

Got to capitalize on the tv show.

Demetrius1d 23h ago

I really do enjoy the fallout world, I always been into the series but couldn't get into new vegas cause the gameplay is a slog, the atmosphere was and still top notch tho, decide to finally play fallout 4 and it's been so mf fun it looks good in 60fps

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies4d ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken4d ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing695d ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker5d ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing695d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt4d ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken4d ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.
