Microsoft seeks experienced producer with "proven track record of production experience in delivering linear media" for unannounced Xbox project.
not what gamers want. if i wanted to watch a film i will watch a film but what i don't want to do is play a game filled with cutscenes, scripted events, linear gameplay and silly pathetic visual affects. quote "VideoGamer.com previously discovered that Black Tusk's project was a "AAA core" action console game, presumed to be a shooter." great another shooter as if the eight halos weren't enough. well atleast microsoft is releasing (or planning to anyway) an exclusive that isn't halo, gears or forza again. i wonder when it will be announced and if its for the 360 or next gen xbox
So now you speak for all gamers? I guess you hated MGS then because that game managed to combine movies and games quite well. Why do you automatically assume that this game will have things like "linear gameplay and silly pathetic visual effects"? What are silly pathetic visual effects anyway? And the likes Uncharted are proof of how excellent games can be when the two mediums are combined.
What?! really? i find it interesting that you mention uncharted and MGS considering that they are sony exclusives. i was talking about the xbox side of things. both gears and halo have generic gameplay and are frequently interrupted by cutsences that try too hard to create a "cinematic experience" with overly dramatic scenes. it is only natural to assume that the game will follow the steps of other popular xbox exclusives like for example halo and gears since there aren't any other titles to refer to.
You should try. The walking dead,
Was going to reply with the same comment. The Walking Dead proves gameplay and good story win out over shinny graphics.
I love the Walking Dead games but why does nobody complain about QTE's in that game compared to others which use it in the same fashion? eg. Heavy Rain?
@Blackdeath_663 what an ignorant.
Nice!!! First thing to come to mind was "Heavy Rain" and MGS. But I can hear Xbox players complaining its more film then game. Games like this get more apile on the PS3.
I don't know about Xbox players but Heavy Rain and MGS were more of a snore fest because they had more cutscenes than gameplay. I want to play a game, not wait 15-45 minutes for a cutscene to end. Half Life 1 and 2 did more for story telling than either Heavy Rain or MGS did, and they didn't require waiting for a cutscene to end.
'all you 360 Fan boys would buy it in a heartbeat.' Lol, you know what they say about people who assume. I'm no 360 fanboy, I've got one but I barely play on it, just like I barely play on my ps3. Don't get your knickers in a twist because I'm talking about MGS, take your hurt feelings elsewhere.
I was thinking the same about heavy rain. Should be interesting to see what they come up with as i think it will be a next gen game and i think a game like heavy rain using a kinect 2 and new controller type would add to a game like this abit like move did. I have said for a long time next gen is going to be different from this gen because ms will now want to eat into sonys market and also nintendos market the same way the other 2 want to get into ms market and each others. I think we will see alot more different types of games made by ms as well as halo forza gears and fable because they want to keep the current base and get a new base too. Im loving my wiiu at the moment and its now got me excited for sonys and Microsoft's new console.
not "apile" but to your point. Games like this get more appeal to those who enjoy them. not specific to any one platform or another. There are plenty of gamers who do not care for that type of game on the PS3 or 360 or even the PC. for some, they care more about the substance of a game more than the cinematics. Substance being the actual gameplay and how it draws the player in. There is a difference between watching the game unfold and playing it. A good blend of both is a welcome thing but we have seen games rely more on the cut scenes due to a lack of proper substance and depth of play. But in the end...to each their own.
Couldn't agree with you more. Take EDF2017. Lame graphics and horrible story but so much fun to play, especially co-op!
If it's a shooter, I really don't care. I want an adventure game. A GOOD RPG. Anything but a shooter. I've got enough shooters to last me a lifetime this generation.
I think you are out of luck. Most RPG's released this gen have some kind of shooting mechanic. Unless it's an old school turn base JRPG....I don't see how RPG's won't be shooters.
Maybe shooters are getting turn-based systems put in? Whatever it is, it's fucking stupid. Paper Mario didn't have a shooting mechanic. I played Blue Dragon for 360 and it was utter garbage. I'm just sick of all games, especially shooters. Only game I didn't care a shooting mechanic was in was Mirrors Edge, and we all know it was the worst part of the game to boot. But whatever, they can put shooting mechanics in whatever they want, I just won't buy it. I want games like Pikmin and Animal Crossing and Terraria (It's coming to 360/PS3 with new content, so that's a nice thing) and Paper Mario (The first 2 only!) on 360. That'd be great for them to make IP's like that with their own twist. Something as good as those games, if not better. That's all I want. The thing is that's what most "gamers" today don't care for. They want COD and 3 other generic 3rd+ game in the series game, but don't give two sh!ts if something new and fun comes out. Half the people who play Minecraft don't even know what Terraria is FFS, but say they like Minecraft because of the adventure. Just...stupidity.
Sorry man. It's just the times we live in. As consoles become more and more advanced....so do the games, even if they seem generic. The PS2 era was the best era for the type of games you are interested in. Maybe console gaming is just not your thing anymore? Maybe ios games or android games might be more up your ally then. Or just stick to playing PS2 titles, however that might get boring after awhile without any kind of new games coming out for it.
Blue Dragon had no shooting in it... And if you put aside the kiddie characters (which most JRPGs have anyway) it was pretty decent. It was a turn based rpg in the mould of the ps1 Final Fantasy. I 1000g'd that game so i should know :)
Incoming Uncharted clone! Or maybe just another Harry Potter Kinect game.
A lot of people forget about Alan Wake. That was some brilliant story telling IMO and it always felt like a "real" game. Damn, the gaming media never saw the brilliance in it. I think MS will offer a lot more first party content next gen with all the studios they built and bought. This ad screams episodic content. Making something like The Walking Dead / Alan Wake with more action sounds awesome to me. Spartan Ops for Halo 4 might have been a first try.
Alan Wake is magnificent, one of my favourite games of all time. It is highly regarded by both Xbox and PS3 gamers. Like Heavy Rain, they are system sellers for people interested in amazing stories.
So by that you mean constant QTEs & corridor levels? No thanks jeff.
Was full of those and it was epic
I hope it isn´t a kinect title. I had enough of those.
Sounds like the dreaded 'cinematic gameplay'. Yuck.
so that's 2 new core Ips for next gen already I guess its clear that MS is preparing for next gen. with all the new studios it will be interesting to see just how many new Ips we get. I really believe next gen X box fans will get a lot what they’ve been wanting this gen including tons of mew ips and the return of some classics like Killer Instinct, Perfect dark, Kameo, Conker and a true Banjo game. And for me personally I would love to see the return of Tao Feng Fist of the Lotus and Crimson Skies but I know thats not likely to happen. But still, would be nice.
Would be great to see more devs attempt the 'interactive drama' genre which quantic dream are masters of.
Why do games have to be like movies? Games are a medium of its own. Do you see books copying music or music copying pictures? No. Games are much more complex (and much different) than movies, yet game developers are envious of Hollywood which released nothing but garbage for the past decade. Even modern remakes of classic films are terrible. Really sad.
this industry needs some good news for a change
Sorry this off topic but @ Nexgensensation you are such a bitch, running from me, then blocking me, you talk trash online, but are a coward away from your keyboard
So they finally decided to stop recycling the same few exclusives.
you mean like god of war, killzone, metal gear, uncharted and resistance?
And inFAMOUS, LBP, Gran Turismo, MotorStorm and Heavy Rain. Oh, and Ar Tonelico, Atelier, Valkyria Chronicles, WKC, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Demon's Souls, Disgaea, MAG, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, and like two dozen others. Yep, just a few. I'm interested in seeing whether or not the same people who criticize Uncharted, Metal Gear, and Heavy Rain will feel the same about this game, or whether it'll be excused because it's on the 360... kinda like The Walking Dead.
Regardless if other titles like Metal Gear have done this, I'm still pretty excited to see what MS is going to bring.
it's a FPS or a TPS, I'm calling it now.
If its another shooter, I'll bite my tongue off.
