The original Planetside, released in 2003 by developers Sony Online Entertainment, was an ambitious undertaking. It was made for thousands of gamers to experience all-out warfare on an immense scale. Thousands of players in their designated faction would be battling each other on the planet Auraxis which had continents that stretch for miles and miles, taking control of each other’s territory before moving on to conquer the next territory, until that faction controls the entire continent.
