Callum questions the logic of gamers and fans when it comes to sequels. Do developers ever stand a chance of pleasing everyone? or are they doomed to suffer at the hands of entitled gamers?

Personally, I'm loving Absolution. All the criticisms of it being too linear, or not having a solid story, or it departing from Blood Money, are all moot and irrelevant.

Absolution is it's own game, and in that respect it does extremely well and is a success. Judging Absolution on its own merits, the developers have done very well and must be applauded.

A must buy game, if you love the stealth genre, or enjoy a challenging 3rd person cover shooter.

it's a tightrope man. you can't really judge absolution on it's own merits because hitman is such a popular franchise, and nobody else makes games like it. changing the formula the way they have is just like abandoning the property in the eyes of some diehard players. i'll admit to being slightly turned off by some of the changes but i'm still really enjoying the game.

How about this...

Games should never change. They should stay the same always. Afterall, that's why everyone loves Call of Duty... because it doesn't change! EVER!

I definitely agree, I'm loving the game. Yeah there are some mechanics from Blood Money that aren't in Absolution that I miss and the disguise system... well sometimes there's no point in getting one on some levels because I've found it easier to just sneak past everyone, but it's still like the older games, jut plain fun. That and the story I'm finding much better than the past ones.

How IO turned Hitman around, from Absolution to World of Assassination

When Hitman 3 recently changed its name to Hitman World of Assassination, fans had no idea how meaningful the moment was. On the outside it looked like a simple thing: Hitman 3 would now be known by this name and include levels from Hitman 2 and 3 - the trilogy would all be in one place. But on the inside, at IO Interactive, much more was going on.

You mean destroyed it with this tethered single-player campaign BS... And only the first few levels of the third modern game were on the disc! I'll never support this crap at any price-point! They've lost me as a customer.

Hitman is, and has been, a remarkable series developed by some of the best. Some are better than others, but every Hitman is challenging and fun.

Sure, there have been some stumbles and fumbles, but always in pursuit of the perfect Hitman game. The most recent trilogy is a masterclass in level design.
