DSOGaming writes: "Game Informer will be revealing new stuff all month and this is just the beginning, so this is not the end of GTA V's hype. Let's not forget that Rockstar will release the second trailer of GTA V this Wednesday. Game Informer has tested the PS3 version, hinting at PS3 being the lead platform for Rockstar's title, and have not reported anything about slowdowns or framerate issues. Hopefully there won't be such issues in the final version, even though it - more or less - seems like wishful thinking."
One question, have anyone heard anything about Multiplayer/online yet?
trolololol
everything is made tested and designed on pc.
then the basement dwellers that make the engines tick faster have a back and fourth with the design team and over the course of about a year things are brought together.
c++ is written purely on a PC what the hell do you guys think they're sitting there with keyboards and shit coding on ps3 hell no. the ps3 requires a pc to run development tools which connect to a devkit.
all this lead platform shit kills me they have a team for whatever system they are trying to get the assets to.
you guys tend to crosstalk marketing speak with what actually happens. Lead platform is a gimmicky term that means they are developing the game and the ps3 is the one system that is furthest along in meeting performance requirements on a multiplatform game.
would make sense seeing as how last time they didnt worry about ps3 enough resulting in a disparity between consoles.
If you ask me i say the updated rage engine has been up and running on pc for over a year, this is the time where they make it all work without performance issues on consoles.
C++ is the language used then there is hardware level optimizations that take place on each system allowing the engine to perform optimally in other words the pc is always lead platform for testing purposes then all assets and engine level optimizations are painstakingly worked out on devkits. often reiteration is quick and compiled code is sent off to the system edited and changed hundreds of times in a day.
Yeah man creating game engines sounds like your thing.
You know from creating game engines?
yeah... Fucking.... right.
plus how would your experience creating game engines somehow tell you about what rockstar is doing with their game.
Anyhow I could use some equations for collision detection between multiple spline based shapes in a basic array in c# would you be able to help me out? where to look?
good thing you've created game engines... such a broad statement.... where do you get yours?
and if you'd been creating "game engines" and you were worth half your salt as a\an mathematical engineer (the guys who actually make game engines) you would not be saying things like "lead platform" you'd be working on breakpoints in debug for whatever sodding piece of shit line you need to NOP out in order to get your shitty ass hlsl glsl system working the way it was 5 minutes ago.
but thats just jibber jabber.
Pc is always lead, by deafult it is where you make games/engines etc. No way around it. It is what it is and you siting your "game engines" doesn't change jack because quite frankly, I dont think you know a Damn thing about what your talking about.
Thats quite possibly the dumbest... I cant even ...
why
Auto I dont think you have a clear understanding of what leading platform means.Because you are very passionate about this il explain
It doesnt matter what it was made ON , what matters is whats its made FOR.
It was made for the PS3 and will be ported to other consoles and the PC. What it was made on is completely irrelevant to Leading Platform.
There is no such thing as lead platform. the closest thing that comes to lead is pc. everything works in a compiler the compiler is what is optimized for each console. its too complicated to explain here, just remember there are always multiple teams for multiple machines. the "lead" on a multiplat like this is just gimmick talk. they are all working equally as hard to get code already created running optimally on the system they specialize in.
in my experience unless this is an exclusive title for a specific machine the term "lead" is given to either whoever is furthest along, or whoever will shut the most fan complaints up.
In this case you all seem to think pc is last even though it comes first in the development cycle. the reason you all disagree is that once the gameplay mechanics and most of the engine are alpha they stop optimizing their code for x86 hardware and begin porting to whichever console they are working on. ie rewriting syntax sensitive scheduling for optimization on cell.
whatever you think is fine. i just dont like it when people dont seem to understand that mplat games arent created for one system or another, they are created simultaneously by separate teams AFTER much-all of the game code is finished in its raw form on pc in c/c++/c#.
one of the reasons only console exclusives really pull away from the pack in terms of visuals/performance.
lead? just a gimmick
You could blame that on Developers being Lazy or maybe they don't want one version to be superior to the other version to not upset fans ?
But what you can do is look at PS3 exclusives, and Xbox 360 exclusives. PS3 exclusives just blow 360 exclusives out of the water.
anyways, this is going off topic. I'm not a fanboy. I'm a factboy
"PS3 exclusives just blow 360 exclusives out of the water."
That is not fact, that is opinion.
Hydrolex you are NOT a factboy since you don't even know what a fact is.
But devs are lazy (as my bros have mentioned) and just want to port which I guess is cheaper and quicker.
This is why I reckon GTA V will be spectacular on each platform. I don't know if they're porting or not, but from the looks of things I reckon they're doing it ground up for each (especially considering there's no PC news).
We just have to wait and see...
CAN YOU FEEL IT!?!
Hopefully DLC is released simultaneously for both consoles. If they have to pick one, then I hope we PS3 owners get it first :D
Also why would I miss out on this kinda free stuff?

I want this game!!!!
No matter how many times you say it...your girlfriend ain't buyin' it.
-mini games gonna be lesser then previous games
-no property purchases
-only customizable clothes.
-no relationships
Whats the use of a bigger world when there is nothing much to do. Dont tell me we gonna shoot 1000 pigeons!
San Andreas has a huge map and even though it was empty it still was fun to explore and look for big foot :)
Property purchases, I will miss.
Customizabl clothing is there.
F*** relationships. It was annoying as hell in GTA IV. Also, there's tons to do in the world, and dynamic missions as well.
Edit: I sound like a total fanboy with my statement above... I want to see a GTA game be released on a Nintendo home console for once. That would be great! Evryone needs to experience this game no matter what platform you are on! :P
PS3 equality!
:)
Motorola RAZR i
good step rockstar ^^
Holy CRAP.
How anyone can be so insecure over a slab of electronic components (consoles) and an unreleased game (GTA5) disc is beyond logic??
Rockstar are in a different league to Bethesda, they will make the best versions possible for both PS3/360...The PS3 had to be the lead platform due to the ease of development in multiplats. We all should know its easier to port from PS3, not to PS3.
Quit pre-mature concern and just be happy 2013 is the swansong of this current generation :)
Is it 720p on the PS3 this time around? Or is it sub-hd just like the last 2 open world games from R*?
Awsome, can't wait to play it.
Edit: and I bet you their is more they aren't showing.
All I care about in a game is the story.
Keep up the good work Rockstar.
