EA never called Dead Space “too scary,” but the misleading headlines are the story of the day

The story is going around like wild fire this morning: EA focused-tested Dead Space, and it was too scary! They have to fix this to reach a bigger audience! The easy headline about the game being “too scary” and that’s why co-op was added is being repeated by any number of video game blogs, and fans are upset that what they loved about the Dead Space series is being taken away. it’s a valid complaint about a series that is supposed to be based on horror. (Dead Space 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

lol, internets wrong again.

Also said, that's why they added co-op, but earlier this week they said co-op was supposed to be in the first game. That made me question everything I was reading about it. Now it makes sense.

Dead Space never needed Co-op. It's a nice addition but not in a game like DS.

I don't think that's the thing that makes fans angry actually. It's everything else they are shoving down our throats in the name of streamlining it and making it more accessible. Co-Op is completely optional and you can still play the game just as Isaac without any forced co-op character helping you (AI or player controlled). So it won't be like Resident Evil 5 on that front. But everything else; from dumbed down survival elements like universal ammo to constantly occuring and immersion breaking quick time events (at least 4 of them in a 20 minute demo), makes the game look horrible in comparison to earlier Dead Space games.

Yes it's optional but DS just does not need Co-op and they are basically goin against their original fanbase by tryin to turn DS into some action shooter.
