At a Glance: Klei Entertainment

Klei Entertainment was built because they want to build games that they care about.
When talented, creative people can work toward that goal, amazing things happen. They can create anendearing off-the-wall puzzle game. They can redefine what an oldschool beat-em-up is. They can create products that live up to your childhood memories of your coolest games.

Klei is located in Vancouver, British Columbia and has developed and published games for a bunch of different platforms.

Invisible Inc. is a turn-based tactical espionage game where you control a group of elite spies to break into the world's most secure complexes. If you're a fan of XCOM and FTL, then this is likely a game for you. The world is procedurally generated, your agents perma-die, and information is both scarce and important.

Invisible, Inc. is in PC public beta currently and will continue to be developed with regular updates, similar to how Klei created (and updated) Don't Starve. They have plans for other platforms, but are focusing on the PC during the beta.

Don’t Starve is an uncompromising wilderness survival game full of science and magic.

You play as Wilson, an intrepid Gentleman Scientist who has been trapped by a demon and transported to a mysterious wilderness world. Wilson must learn to exploit his environment and its inhabitants if he ever hopes to escape and find his way back home.

The Reign of Giants DLC adds new content throughout the entire upper world of Don't Starve including new seasons, creatures, characters, items, craftables, and biomes, providing new challenges to overcome and new ways to adapt and survive in the uncompromising world.

Mini Q&A
Answers by Jamie Cheng, Founder

Why do you make games?
Games are a young medium with a ridiculous amount of territory left to explore. It tickles both sides of my brain, and I think that intersection of tech and art is fascinating.

Why should people play Don't Starve and Invisible, Inc.?
Why indeed! As a whole we push pretty hard on breaking genre boundaries in our games.

In Invisible, Inc., we created a procedurally-generated turn-based stealth game. It's probably the only game where you can feel like you're controlling an elite team of spies, taking on missions, planning your moves and executing them like a pro.

Don't Starve is an uncompromising wilderness survival game. If that premise sounds great to you, then it's totally your kind of game. It has a ridiculous number of ways to die, too.

What element of game design do you hold above all others?
While making a game, we often ask a question "is this game worth making?" That is, is this game intrinsically worth something to players, or is it just leading the player from one extrinsic reward to the next?

We ultimately strive to build games that are interesting in and of themselves, and to create an experience that enriches the player, usually by creating an experience they've never had before.

I've wanted Don't Starve for a while now, just haven't picked it up yet. Hope I get lucky!!

You and me both! I see it everywhere, think about trying it but never actually do it. Fingers crossed for us both, eh? :P

It's pretty addicting, get on PC if capable.

Own it 2x and do not regret.

Klei is by far my favourite indie working these days. I suck at Don't Starve, but it's an absolute gem. My Mum is better than me at Don't Starve, but she still hasn't survived a winter, let alone some of the extra challenges. There is a TON of content in that game if you look hard enough.

One awesome game not even mentioned here is Mark of the Ninja. It's absolutely fantastic. It reminded me of playing Metal Gear Solid back in the day, but it really is a different game. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Every thing they do is vastly different, and I cannot wait to see their take on the turn-based genre.

Escape from Tarkov Unheard Edition Reneges on Promised Content Behind $250 Price Tag

The new Escape from Tarkov Unheard Edition has the community in an outrage after promising exclusive access to the new PvE mode for $250 USD.

$250? Do they not know all the other games that already exist or will be made in the future that can do similar?

SimpleDad11m ago(Edited 9m ago)

This is for the hardcore people that have 2500 h in the game. They basically play that one game the whole year.
Oh and those same people are mad as hell at this... what a way to reward fans of your game and annihilate newcomers.

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece
