MS burns Xbox One owners with no reward for early adopters

GGG argues that while there is precedent that says Microsoft doesn't have to give early adopters anything that Xbox One owners deserve something for not having the option of buying the $399 Kinect-less Xbox One SKU.

Early adopters such as myself shouldn't feel entitled. I bought PS4 and One at launch and didn't get any free games or promotions. Part of being an early adopter is getting a product right away. If you want to wait for a promotion or price drop then you have that option.

While that is true and it was also true that many in the gaming community saw this coming and warned early adopters, microsoft swore up and down that this would NEVER happen.

I agree that compensation shouldn't be given in regard to a price drop happening so soon their should be a token of good will from Microsoft as an apology for the lies, these people who bought xbox one out of loyalty to the brand are now stuck with a kinect they didn't have to buy... that has likely effected their trust in microsoft.

Without consumer trust microsoft will have a harder time selling future hardware, why adopt a new system when you have been burned in the past with so many missteps?

A lack of consumer trust will damage the brand long term and while I don't feel early adopters are entitled to anything I believe it would behoove microsoft to kiss up and play nice, all of this back pedaling has done them no favors in regard to their loyal fan base.

they only have themselves to blame, they could have seen the bad value in the XB1 and expected a quick price cut by MS. like we should see the bad value in the $400 Kinctless XB1 and expect another price cut to $300 by E3 next year, only then will start to be a decent deal.

They're not dropping Kinect, they're simply making it a choice now. However, most people I know love Kinect. It enhances the next-gen experience and it's voice commands and navigation makes it so convenient.

Those that think they don't want Kinect and buy a kinectless SKU will never find out how immersive Kinect makes the X1.

I tend to believe early adopting is the way to go especially with PS4. PS4 still the same msrp price and was sold out for a long time. While you are a PS plus subscriber the longer you own, the more value you build in your free games library.

So you are actually losing value on the PS4 if you wait longer to buy it.

However on the X1 front the early adopters did get the shaft because the price mark downs started coming immediately after launch, then you had free titanfall, then you had free titanfall and forza, and now you got the kinect-less sku for $100 cheaper. So if you value getting to play X1 earlier than then props to you, but for many of the early adopters this shouldn't sit well.

I agree, early adopters know what they're getting into. They are to die-hards who just want to machine day1. I don't think they are the one who are now having buyers remorse. I think it's the people who never really wanted Kinect in the first place, who are feeling bummed out. I guess those guys could always trade their XbOne in for the kinectless SKU?!?

To be fair, MS kept saying "this won't happen" and then it did. They even say 8/10 XB1 owners use Kinect so those 2/10 probably would have preferred buying it at $400 without it if they could have.

I'm an early adopter I got what I paid for but it is true we were told no way in hell a kinect less sku would happen and it happened we should get something for being here day 1
