gamrReview's Overall Game of the Year 2013

gamrReview's Karl Koebke: "It's been quite the year for gaming. Two new consoles have released with all the hype and hubbub that goes along with that, but perhaps not enough of the great exclusives that demand their purchase. The Wii U, meanwhile, is struggling to garner consumer backing but has brought the heat as far as games are concerned. Pokemon X & Y was the series' first true foray into 3D, topping off a great year for 3DS software. And Tearaway showed that all those unique PS Vita functionalities can be put to good use. All in all it's been a great year, and next year looks to be just as fun.

In order for a game to be considered for overall game of the year it had to win one of the platform awards. And now that the preliminaries are out of the way, on to the main event..."

What horrible nominations

Where is Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider and especially The Last of Us.

MONKEYDLUFFY3757d ago

You had to win a best of system award which they did not.

It's not your GOTY nominees list so why get so butthurt.

Totally agree, SM3DW, GTA V both great and deserving. Good thing they didn't fall for the overhyped and overrated TLOU.

Hicken3757d ago

Good thing opinions are not facts.

Also interesting that the same could be said of the two games you mention, isn't it?

The games I mentioned have OODLES of gameplay and perfect control and design in case of SM3DW, and amazing story, design based on story and variety of gameplay possibilities in case of GTA V; both had huge amounts of content. While TLOU, being a great game overall, was lacking in what's most important: gameplay which was actually boring and derivative in many parts of the game and was just means to support the story which was completely ripped off from "The Road" movie. AI was shockingly bad and I hated the encounters with human enemies particularly in stealth.

3d world was awesome but I would go with ALBW

Yes, it is game of the year, I have not played a more fun game since Super Mario Galaxy 2, and I think this game is better than that, I don't need fancy graphics, or hi tech specs to enjoy a game, it's all about the gameplay and no game on any system has better than mario 3d world, I don't care what the haters and critics say, This is my game of the year!

Mario World 3D is a great game, it worth this award!!!

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing693d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy853d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
