Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Plot Theories

The Metal Gear Solid franchise is one of the most decorated and revered in gaming. Scoring an average of 92+ on Metacritic, the franchise has continued to develop and change with each installment. Director Hideo Kojima is now building up the anticipation with the impending arrival of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes – set to serve as the prologue for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The narrative behind these two titles is extremely fascinating, especially with the certain plot theories that surround them. My intention is to explore some of these ideas and offer my own thoughts on them; in the process, discussing some of the conclusions I have drawn up, too.

I won't participate in any plot theoreries because
a) I want to go into this game completely fresh without expectations
b) Kojima will surprise us anyway with the most ridiculous things

BiggCMan3757d ago

^Hell yea. So excited for Ground Zeroes!! Not that i'm counting or anything, but....only 66 days away!!

This is the one series that I can not get enough of. I'm still waiting for a "the Boss" title set in WWII. I think that would be awesome. Honestly more awesome than getting more Big boss or solid snake. Don't get me wrong. Solid Snake is my all time favorite video game character but I think we can let him go.

Nero13143757d ago

I agree with you But I wanna see solid snake on next gen platforms

mgszelda13757d ago

Honestly I want a remake of Metal "Gear" not "Solid" 1 and 2, if they want to continue to use snake or bb

LaFleur3757d ago

I think it's more likely that we will see a remake of the first two Metal Gear titles.

@MGSZelda: Wait....WHAT?! I was just talking to my girlfriend about this! Is this "confirmed" to be in Kojima's future brain fart list (is he thinking about this or did he mention it)? I would love that! Or even a piece of DLC that is an episode or 2 involving this story lineup. The Boss is the best and I would LOVE to play as her! Knowing Kojima it wouldn't be a skin swap either!

I would like to see more Solid Snake though. Only in the form of a good remake or something where he is young like MG 1 and 2.We only got to see 2 games where he was young Metal Gear Solid Ghost Babel and MGS1 so it would still be nice to play as young Snake with David Hayter as his voice.
Nero says it pretty well: I want to see him on next gen platforms too. No octocamo either! Young Snake!

I like Big Boss too, sometimes even a bit better than Snake but I feel like alot of Solid's younger "Legacy" years have yet to be shown in HD which I need in my life!

ZodTheRipper3757d ago

I like Big Boss much more than Solid Snake so I'm happy that MGS:5 is about him.

ZombieKiller3756d ago

I can see why. I like both characters so much that I can't decide who is better honestly. They both have their strengths and awesomeness. I want to see more of young Snake though

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan175d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara175d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus175d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow175d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga191d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19191d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19191d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq191d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger191d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder191d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils191d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder191d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85191d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

1nsomniac191d ago

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420191d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim191d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo190d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
