Xboxers Bashing PS4 For Reliability Issues Is Comically Ironic

It appears that a great many Xbox followers are getting a big kick out of the issues facing the PlayStation 4. All those followers must have amnesia.

@JokesOnYou- You're such an example of a XBoxer, let's not get this out of the way, what the guy said it's entirely true, and that was a very known issue for a very long time, and MS knew the issue and released the console at the cost of the consumer. Why did you think it had a 3 year warranty? it wasn't because MS is "awesome", it's because they knew the problem existed and was very noticing, also, those disc ring scratches, noticeably unheard of. So please, don't be such a hypocrite, it's not of your convenience.

Every game console has it's share of issues, but both Sony and Nintendo have a track record of good reliable products, so I take these PS4 hardware issues with a grain of salt until they become more noticeable. It's very evident the media and fanboys like you wants to make it seem like that's Sony's version of the RROD when you dumbheads earned that reputation MS already earned a reputation of faulty products and say "Sony did this too as well" just to justify MS`s actions, I remember well y'all made a big deal out of the PS3`s yellow light when it reality it was about the normal rate of console failures. XBox One isn't out yet, but it has to deal with a reputation issued all thanks to their second game console. So, if I point an example of someone pointing information out of his ass, that's you.

Because it was court-ordered otherwise they would have to recall all XBox 360's and take it off the market. They aren't a good company for consumers.

No Hicken MS starting fixing 360's just a few months after release when the problem came to light for free, not a "year and a half" you're reaching.

That was not my experience or recollection of the situation at all.

It took an extremely long time for MS to react and acknowledge the RRoD problem.

The 360 launched in Nov 2005. The extended warranty kicked in around July / Aug 2007.

That meant a lot of people whose consoles failed between Nov 2006 and the start of the extended warranty (nearly 8 months) got boned as MS was still denying the extent of the problem.

That was the situation I had. A RRoD failure after warranty ended, and MS refused to repair it for free, or reimburse me after the extended warranty went live.

Odd... Most people remember Microsoft saying there was no problem at all. In fact, they adamantly denied there was any sort of issue for roughly 18 months, before finally admitting there was an issue and implementing the 3 year warranty.

The 30% failure rate comes from the OFFICIAL REPORTED DEFECTIVE RATES from the five biggest retailers in North America. That's where it comes from. It was verified several times over.

Microsoft would never acknowledge it because they LIE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. Example: "We have no idea what's causing the RRoD." Three years later- "Oh, it's fixed now."

Yeah? Must've known what it was to fix it, right? And why wait three years? To artificially inflate the sales numbers so fools will continue to buy new consoles after the third, fourth, fifth Xbox 360s die.

Hence, MS's "official" statements have been proven to be bogus over and over again. I fail to see that from Sony.

Years and years of massive failure rates, reported by literally dozens of the biggest retailers around the world, whether you choose to believe them or not. And Microsoft never once - not ONCE - told the consumer why.

I worked at EB during the PS2 launch. I remember the disc scratching, caused by the system standing vertically. Sony immediately acknowledged that issue and the problem was fixed in a matter of MONTHS. The PS2 ended up having one of the highest reliability ratings in history.

The Xbox 360 not only has the lowest, it has the lowest reliability rating by a huge margin. You can dance around this all you want. You can try and turn it back on Sony all day long. At the end of the day, Sony - indeed, NO game console manufacturer - has ever produced a LESS reliable system than the Xbox 360. It was also named one of Consumer Reports' worst products multiple times. That has never happened to any PlayStation.

Nobody ever said that what Sony is reporting is 100% accurate, and nobody said that what the PS4 is experiencing isn't significant (at this point, nobody really knows). All of that is irrelevant.

None of it changes the FACT that the 360 was a fu***** mess. And it doesn't change the FACT that Microsoft covered up the reason for the RRoD for the EXPRESS PURPOSE of selling more consoles. I call that lying. I call it deceiving the public. I call it corporate BS at its finest. And I'm hardly the only one.

The 360 user base? Really? Gee, I know a lot of gamers and I can't think of a single one who didn't go through at least THREE. Now, I don't like mentioning that because by the standard rules of debate, anecdotal evidence doesn't really apply. Personal experience is not indicative of an entire populace of consumers.

But I guess I'll use it now, because apparently, that's all you've got. The user base just "knows," huh? Let me explain something to you, kid-

You're the only one with a massive, obvious bias. I've been playing since the Atari, I've owned most every system in existence, and that includes both Xbox consoles to date. I harp on Sony for a variety of legitimate reasons. One of them is not reliability because I have very little evidence to support any bashing. You don't have any, either, besides your own personal claims about what Sony said, when problems were fixed, etc.

If you want to claim that the Xbox 360 was a more reliable machine than the PS2, that's your business. I find such blind ignorance boring, because it has become embarrassingly common in the industry today. But by all means, go try and convince the rest of the community of your claim that the 360 was really just unfairly persecuted, and the PS2 and PS3 were junk.

That way, you can waste OTHER people's time and not mine.

Articles like this don't do much to help your cause. Things like this just make it worse and bring more negative attention. To be fair, the Xbox fans reaction to this is rather small in comparison to the crap Sony fans gave them the past 6 months. I say just take it on the chin and accept what you get. In all honesty some people on this site kinda deserve it just a little. When you throw rocks at the other side daily don't get mad when they throw back. Fair is fair. I do agree it's ironic.

I love how we still try & pretend PS2 was perfect. I know 1 person out of all my friends who never had one crap out. Dying after 2 hours. Play DVDs but not games. Laser doesn't work at all. Ect.
