PS4 'Perfect Day' Commercial Gets New Meaning in Light of Lou Reed's Tragic Passing

No I didn't. The author is trying to suggest that Lou Reed dying offers this advert some sort of poignancy, when it's just a cheap attempt at touting an old man's death as some massive benefactor to PlayStation's marketing team.

Now thats just lame. Sure a shit he'd be pissed his song is used in a commercial. He may not have owned the song to control it. Doesn't matter now though. Commercials always ruin songs, kills them - because it's trying to sell you something pure and simple. $ is all it's about. Greed. That's a good song but come on that just sucks. Props to MCA from Beastie Boys who maintained after his death that none of his music will EVER be in a commercial. And his 2 bro's confirm it will never happen. Now thats the shit.

Some people are missing the point entirely. Now because of Lou's passing, this commercial takes on a new meaning as a tribute to a great musician. Sure, it has no relevance to his music but now because of this ad, more people will be able to listen to his music and that can only be a good thing.

I wonder if they knew about the BBC's excellent Perfect Day video from the 90s. Someone at Sony should/will know - should/will have looked up whether the song had already been used in a memorable way. Because it smacks (no pun intended) of not caring about being particularly original to use it yet again. I don't know many Lou Reed songs apart from that and The Passenger. Memorable tunes. And I suppose it's nice to see it used for something as new and exciting as the PS4. Rather than, say, a supermarket advert.
