Splinter Cell: Blacklist Is Everything You Love About Espionage, Only Cooler | Dualshockers

Dana Abercrombie writes:

America is about to be under attack–I’m talking epic Independence Day, somebody call your momma type of destruction–and the only person who can save them is you…of course. However, there’s a whole bunch of people standing in your way whose main goal in life is to stop your dream of saving the world from coming true, much like people in real life. But you are strong, you are tough, you are a super-solider, you’re not going to let people and their destructive negativity stand in your way; come hell or high water Sam Fisher does not back down from a challenge whether that challenge involves recusing people from CIA safe houses or putting the smackdown on sleeper cells in London. Yes, I said London; this game is international and you don’t even need a passport…remember you don’t exist.

I totally agree with what you said on a different article about this awesome game. You said it has a never seen stealthy flow, and this is totally true. I was playing the game earlier and I was thinking the exact same thing. I even started wondering what I liked so much about the previous games and if I would ever be able to like them again as much as I did before this one. Before Blacklist came out, I was hoping this was going to be the dark, gruesome tinted espionage game I was waiting for since Chaos Theory. And my wish came true, it was awesome to experience this. I just played the Chicago mission again and yesterday I replayed the abandoned mill and the Iran and the private estate mission and I realised the awesomeness of this game. It's just everything I hoped for. Ubisoft has succeeded in creating the exact same atmosphere that veiled Chaos Theory. It's awesome. And the fact that you can customize almost everything adds an incredible lot to the atmosphere as well, at least for me personally, I don't know in general but I attach a lot of importance to the cosmetics of a game, especially if they have astonishing graphics and light effects like this one. The return of the knife and the strategic thinking you have to do when you want to play ghost or panther, especially on perfectionist mode, is also something I'm very excited about. I can go on and on about this. I could mention how cool it feels to play in the rain (awesome weather effects (snow in the last mission is also very nicely done and you get the balaclava, it's awesome) and 'lens-effect') when it's dark and you can see only your goggles be light up and you use your knife and silenced pistol to create yourself a path through the enemies. I'll stop now because I don't know where to stop so it would be wise to stop right now. I couldn't be more excited, except if they released a new dlc with awesome new maps (and maybe a bunch of other things :) but maps alone would be already very very awesome, thanks UBI !!!

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - A Decade in the Shadows

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been out of action for a decade, so it's time to look back at 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Sam Fisher is evidently the most skilled stealth operative because no-one has seen him in his own game for years

kevco33264d ago

10 years, in fact. He must be, like, 60 by now?

phoenixwing264d ago (Edited 264d ago )

why make an inspired game that takes effort when you can half ass it with multiplayer gaas games and filler filled assassins creed games?

That question up there is the reason you don't see splinter cell games

zarbor264d ago

Yup, another example that Ubisoft has no idea what they are doing.

The entire mark and execute system belonged in another game.

It’s cool, but the polar opposite to how Sam Fisher initially handled.

The original trilogy made shooting very, very difficult, yet a viable option, which ultimately motivates stealth.

The mark/execute system makes shooting stupid easy, to the point of why would you even bother trying stealth as an alternative?

FYouDad264d ago

Because Ghost is the method fans of the series actually prefer? IMark and execute is never forced upon the player you liiterally never have to bother using it even once throughout Blacklist.

The sad part is that I actually really enjoyed the last game, Blacklist. It may have lacked the iconic voice but the gameplay was excellent, and blended stealth, action and a mix really great compared to most games, where none of the three options felt like the wrong way to play. I really hope they either produce a remake of the original game or a proper sequel.

Isn't UBI Soft remaking splinter cell.

Sam Fisher Deserves Better

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "Ubisoft, we need to chat. Please, have a seat. Thanks. Ok, so I think you know why you’re here. No it has nothing to do with all those game delays, we’ll talk about that later. What? No it’s not about the Skulls & Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2 falling off the face of the Earth, just listen. We need to talk about Splinter Cell. Don’t give me that look, you know this conversation needs to happen. The way you’ve treated the series, its fans and poor Sam Fisher himself is sad, infuriating and just plain disappointing and it needs to stop."

The Fish!!!

I'd love to see a remastered edition of those games as well as something new. It's about time.

UltraNova1504d ago

MGS is done, at least as we know it so it's now or never Ubi, give Fisher the reboot it deserves. And for Gods sake, don't you dare turn Splinter Cell into another Division/Ghost reckon online abomination instead of a SP focused steath action game!

Psychonaut851504d ago

You know they will though. This is Ubisoft we’re talking about

zachyBROosevelt1504d ago (Edited 1504d ago )

I would love a new splinter cell, maybe even a reboot at this point. Sam Fisher deserves it

Profchaos1504d ago

I think reboot the entire franchise the games were great but every time they try to make him human like a father or something it comes of as unbelievable

hiawa231504d ago

They added damn near every SC game to Xbox1X back compat enahnced list. That is a lot of Sam enhanced and I am loving it, but Sam deserves a new next gen game.
