Is this the Summer update we were promised?

Iwata did say: "End of September or beginning of October."

Monday is the end of the September, with Tuesday being the beginning of October and starting the first week of the new month.

Coincidence? I hope so.

I hope it is. This is crazy, but I almost hope they can somehow etch out more power using the update.

Dravidian3862d ago

Meh, Wii U doesnt have a power issue imo. Like the ps3, it will just take time before people really can really push its abilities.

That being said, I really hope this is setting the stage for the update. And I really hope the update does more than increase speed...

What do you mean power? As in Graphic power? I don't think that's possible with an update. At least not a significant change. Besides I think Nintendo made the Wii U to run all their games perfectly and beautifully and that's the concept they stick with lol.

A lot is possible with an update. Like activating all cores, releasing the lock on the GPU performance.

No, really now, what I am really curios about is the Fan on the SoC. It doesnt run, its passive cooling is all that works right now. I wonder what the fan is for, if it doesnt get any use. Hope it will have something to do with a performance increase, but we will see.

Nintendo needs more than just a little maintenance. They need a total revamp of their R&D dept. Send them to school to learn some common sense.

Oh my goodness, people will find something negative to say about anything pertaining to Nintendo.

Last I checked, Nintendo still has the highest selling peace of hardware on the planet, and they are still posting a profit without using any tricks like selling buildings.

Nintendo is the only one with common sense as they know that price and accessibility are more important than bragging about specs.

They have the most energy efficient next gen console as well as the cheapest. They have the best R&D.

DA_SHREDDER3862d ago (Edited 3862d ago )

the online is gimped, and now they are porting last gen games and DS games to the WiiU for full price, F that , btw i owned a WiiU since launch, besides monster hunter, unless you are a pre teen then you don't need one

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga4d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas4d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.
