The Xbox 360 controller uses a 2.5mm audio jack for voice chat input. Since both the PS4 and Wii U use the standard 3.5mm audio jack, using a simple adapter will allow you to use your existing, presumably expensive, headset for audio chat.

don't see why you need the adapter, why not just use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm cord ??? just ordered mine. hopefully it works.

I assume since I have the turtle beach x12 with the dss2 optical in I can use the optical out from the ps4 into the in and it will work fine?
