As anticipation goes higher for upcoming consoles, overall retail sales of video games dropped by 15% across the entire US last June. This information was based on data released by NPD Group Inc, a retail tracking firm based in New York. Total sales fell to $593.3 million year-on-year.

Disappointing sales from TLOU. Playstation fans need to better support exclusive franchises.

600 mil for June sounds good though, what else typically releases in June?

majiebeast3932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

Yeah 985.000 copies sold in America alone is dissapointing... It outsold Gears,Bioshock:I and Tombraider. Its the third best selling game in June since 1995.

You xbox fans better make sure Quantum Break doesnt bomb like Alan Wake finaly something else then a shooter or dudes of war.

SilentNegotiator3932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

3.4 million WW

Quit your sad trolling, NeverEndingTrolling.

Prime_283932d ago

He's got a point though, GOW: Ascension bombed and that's one of, it not, Sony's biggest franchise. PLaystation gamers don't seem to buy their exclusives much.

Lovable3932d ago

Good trolling, but ultimately fail at the end.

Master-H3932d ago

How are MS's new exclusive IPs for the 360 selling this year ?

Oh wait...

adorie3932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

NeverEndingTrolling, you gotta do better. Your fanboyism is so freaking bad, I don't even know what to call it.

The Last of Us, while my opinion; is the best game I have played in the last few years. Gameplay, difficulty, graphics, sound, story, character development, level variation, music. It is a true jack-of-all-trades.

I think your fanboyism has prevented you from trying the game, because if you had, even your negative opinion wouldn't come off that bad. I'm optimistic enough to bet you'd enjoy it.

p.s: my first playthrough was on hard, 2nd on survivor, 3rd was on survivor+. My opinion carries weight, at least to me.

Utalkin2me3932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

Nevermind him, he is upset cause he gets no new Ip's.

CalvinKlein3932d ago

Maybe if they would not pile up all games for the last quarter of the year it would look different.

Robochobo3932d ago

This. I don't know why publishers don't spread out the game selection, instead of bundling them together to compete with other titles.

xPhearR3dx3932d ago

Because of all the conventions. It's a good way to build a lot of hype and drive sales at the end of the year. Off the top of my head, GDC is in March, E3 is in June, SDCC is July, TGS is somewhere around September. Usually games that release over the summer, are games that were revealed a long time ago, or delayed.

@xPhearR3dx
Don't forget Gamescom in august

Campy da Camper3932d ago

Well, I'm pretty much saving up for big time spending come November. Dinking around on the Wii u until I can get my hands on that sweet ps4 and pretty much evey launch game available. I'm even sitting on my hands for GTA release with hopes for a next gen release. Any games coming out later this summer will probably drop on next gen so the drought is on lol

JohnCartenper3932d ago

You're looking at a 1500$ purchase.
Does not seem wise for untested hardware and crappy launch games at full retail price.

quantae063932d ago (Edited 3932d ago )

Isn't everybody lol. GTA V is a must have game!

Y_51503932d ago

I think I'm getting Killzone: Mercenary before it. :P

n4rc3932d ago

I'm just sort of bored with this gen, especially since e3..
Waiting on November with no plans to buy any new games for my 360 or ps3

n4rc3932d ago

Doesn't interest me..

But I love how I got 6 dislikes for that..

Electric-flamingo3932d ago

Nothing was out besides last of us. That's the last game I bought.

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece

Microsoft’s Surface and Xbox hardware revenues take a big hit in Q3

Microsoft just posted the third quarter of its 2024 fiscal financial results. The software maker made $61.9 billion in revenue and a net income of $21.9 billion during Q3. Revenue is up 17 percent, and net income has increased by 20 percent.

Xbox content + services up 62% while hardware down 31%... seems about right with the way they tout you don't need the hardware to play. People can play on their phones or smart tv or other means. I don't hardly play on my consoles directly since getting devices like the logitech g-cloud and ps portal. Which is to also say I have been playing more digital than physical because of these devices.

solideagle6m ago

you should apply in MS PR team buddy, I think you will do a great job in my humble opinion :)

Xbox hardware revenue tanks to lowest point of Xbox Series generation

Profchaos1h ago

I'm not surprised surface is struggling they aren't relevant anymore

XBManiac1h ago

Too expensive hardware when others offer the same or more for less? Good work, Green Team.

SimpleDad55m ago(Edited 54m ago)

"Despite some early successes for Xbox games on rival platforms, Xbox hardware is down by a massive 31 percent this quarter."
"Without Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s overall gaming revenue would have actually declined this quarter."
"Xbox content and services would have only been up a single percent without Activision Blizzard..."
"It looks like next quarter is going to be a similar story for gaming at Microsoft, too."

That is crazy... so A/B/K is carrying the whole Xbox gaming.
Oh and Microsoft will be fine. Windows, Office and Cloud are growing with each pc purchase.

purple10134m ago

Activision: "we gonna need a bigger rucksack/backpack please"

Microsoft: "why's that"

Activision: "to carry yo' weak ass'

Profchaos5m ago(Edited 3m ago)

Top brass have also wanted to start seeing returns on the 100 billion they have put into various Xbox related moves so seeing more multiplatform games is highly likely especially from abk

It's basically saying that PlayStation is the reason Xbox is afloat right now thinks to Ps5 versions of COD
