congrats Naughty Dog. Nice sales

sengoku3973d ago (Edited 3973d ago )

They deserve it.
the game is absolutely stunning, it just annihilates anything that went before it.
Great job Naughty Dog and Sony

abzdine3973d ago

PS3 on fire! Thank you Sony for giving gamers what they deserve.

I think before the ps3's 10 year cycle is up, its gonna surpass the wii.

It's not Sony it's me.

Umm anybody notice ps3 now ahead of 360 in global sales...surprised I hear no one talking about that

xHeavYx3973d ago

PS3 has outsold the 360 worldwide for a long time now

Minato-Namikaze3973d ago

Cause its been that way for a couple months now, VG is just now catching up.

dedicatedtogamers3973d ago

When PS3 pulls ahead, the goalposts move.

Total number of exclusives was once touted, but then PS3 caught up and the goalpost moved.

Then it was the Metacritic score of those exclusives. Again, PS3 began to dominate here and the goalpost moved.

Then for the longest time it was total sales. Now that PS3 caught up here, too, the goalpost will change to something else (like total number of online accounts, or sales in the US, or something like that).

abzdine3973d ago

cause it's no surprise for anyone anymore :)
360 and PS3 both great consoles, but PS3 offers more value for the money.

fuzzyLogix3973d ago

It's largely pulled ahead due to the PS3 Slim MKI and MKII. PS3 Phat is an awful machine, really regret buying one. I wonder how many other people agree and replaced their Phat with a Slim?

RiPPn3973d ago

@fuzzyLogix: I like my phat, it is backward compatible, has 4 usb ports, and a memory card reader, it's been a reliable machine!

GameBanger3973d ago

Sofware is more important thant console sales anyways.. 360 is winning in that department overall.

Wow, is that really only 2 days of sales for a new IP? Absolutely love that game.

dedicatedtogamers3973d ago

WOW! I'm actually very surprised that TLoU is selling so well.

It certainly deserves it, but...yeah, I'm just surprised.

Great sales by naughty dog and to Sony being up 21% on this week. So crazy for such an old console!

abzdine3973d ago (Edited 3973d ago )

now i understand when Sony were saying that PS3 will live 10 years. It's entering its 7th year and it's performing stronger than ever and PS4 is around the corner!!! This is great for PlayStation financials it will bring us more games cause Sony will invest more and more!

shivvy243973d ago

Wow the vita ! Nice job ND gonna pick up the game soon

solidworm3973d ago

Get used to these figures, I see the next gen replicating this gap from the off. Well done ND. TLOU is a masterpiece and possibly the greatest campaign ive ever had the honor to play.

mushroomwig3973d ago

That's what they said about the 3DS.

Theyellowflash303973d ago

Wii U is far from dead, Nintendo has a truck ton of games coming out for the Wii U starting in August and through the holiday season.

hollabox3973d ago (Edited 3973d ago )

Yeah Disney has allot of games planned for the Wii U in August if your into those type of games. I guess Splinter Cell Black is planned for August 20th but I doubt people will be lining up outside the door to buy an Wii U and Splinter Cell Black.

On the positive note, Mr. Satoru Iwata finally realize he needs to diversify Nintendo's software portfolio. Read reports he's growing the team and looking into new IPs to develop, so next E3 might be interesting if Satoru Iwata is true to his word.

ziratul3973d ago

@hollabox You do understand how much time is needed to make new IP with new team? Years....

Theyellowflash303973d ago

Hollabox, August for Nintendo is Pikmin 3. That game is going to sell a lot of Wii U's if Nintendo markets it right.

Splinter Cell is just a side dish of Wii U owners. If you're going to argue against the Wii U, at least know the line-up of Nintendo's first party games.

hollabox3973d ago (Edited 3973d ago )

@Theyellowflash30

I've posted the Wii U lineup in the past for August, just didn't think Pikmin was worth mentioning. I will admit I've never played or had the inclination to play Pikmin, not even on my Gamecube.

With that said Pikmin looks and has always looked way too soft or casual for my taste. From what I've seen is Pikmin really any different than what Disney offers? Pikmin is a colorful kid game which fine if that's thing, I say more power to you but its not for me. With that said I still don't see August release of Pikmin, Disney titles, and Splinter Cell being System sellers. I'm talking about 30,000 units or less in the US at best.

Any who I was actually praising Nintendo for atleast acknowledging they need to expand their portfolio. If they show something decent for my age I might consider Nintendo again in the future, I just grew out of most games Nintendo offers today.

Wii U is really looking horrible, still not dead - its near death actually.

Shnazzyone3973d ago

Nope. Not even close. It's just at its slowest point. As long as mario Kart 8 and smash brothers is coming, Wii U is gonna be just fine. Anyone saying otherwise is exercising wishful thinking.

Eyeco3972d ago

Because Mario Kart and Smash Bros really helped the N64 and Gamecube

Shnazzyone3972d ago (Edited 3972d ago )

Smash Brothers was a new IP and Yes, Mario Kart 64 did help n64 as it was a launch title. Different times man. Now those are two of nintendo's biggest ips. So yeah, wishful thinking.

ziratul3972d ago

People are telling me: Wii U will BOOM in 2014? 2 years after release?

hollabox3973d ago

@ziratul
Really? You don't say? Of course I know game development can take anywhere from 12-24 months or more depending on scope, quality, budget, and team size. The E3 comment is not an release date, companies do showcase their titles sometimes a year or more before they are actually released.

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow19h ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

OtterX2h ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Tody_za2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno1h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.
