Just like gameinformer's award, super mario 3d wins over all best platformer!! ubisoft, you screwed up!!! RAY MAN LEGENDS IS DEAD!!! Mario 3d, Donkey Kong, and Sonic, these 3 games will bury rayman on the wii u!! well are you glad you delayed it ubisoft? I played rayman, donkey kong, and mario 3d, at best buy e3 event!! and while ray man made a monkey out of NSMB U, MARIO 3D and Donkey kong, blew rayman away!! and fans all over the internet are picking mario 3d and donkey kong over rayman!! even many of the critics are!!

so way to go ubisoft!! you could have brought the game out when it was supposed to come out back in feb., but no, you had to delay it, and now it's going up against the big boys!! it could have sold well on it's own, but now? microsoft and sony fans, hardly ever by ray man games, origins sold the most on wii, so now you could have sold alot of copies on wii u back in the early of the year, ray man had NO COMPETITION!! AND NOW look what it has!!! I did not care if it was coming to 360 and ps3, but the wii u version should have came out in early march as planned,

now? ray man is doomed, for 60 bucks which one will the nintendo fans buy? a great mario and donkey kong game that are block buster titles, or a small cult following title with a guy with no arms and no legs? yeah and I know which two I am getting!!! YOU BLEW IT UBISOFT, RAY MAN HAS NO ARMS AND NO LEGS AND NOW HE HAS NO FUTURE WITH THE WII U, WAY TO GO UBISOFT!!! GREAT STUPID MOVE!! have you been talking to THQ lately? seriously, way to go ubisoft, 10 years from know you will look back on this and say "Ya know, Maybe we should have stuck with the original release date for ray man legends"... ya think? oh well there is always the bargain bins at best buy! see you there next year ray man legends!! i may pick you up for $19.99!

Calm down. What happens happens, though I highly doubt that Rayman Legends is dead. If anything, making it multi-platform probably saved it, since most people don't own Wii U's, and parents / adults might buy this game for their kids on the platforms they use (Ps3 and 360).

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan21d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name45d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno45d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno44d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure44d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.

Hidetaka Miyazaki claims Dark Souls 2 “carried” the series forward

Dark Souls 2 remains a divisive entry in the landmark RPG franchise, but Hidetaka Miyazaki believes it led to the success of Elden Ring.

The game isn't good though.

Rols60d ago

DS2 was fine. While there was a bit of recycling assets or ideas for bosses, it was a bigger more open Dark Souls. The Fume knight boss is one of the hardest bosses in the series until Sekiro and Elden Ring were released.

CrimsonWing6960d ago

The problem with Dark Souls 2 was the same problem when a different director takes over for a sequel to an outstanding movie. It typically (there are exceptions) doesn’t have the feel and vision of the previous movie.

I wouldn’t say Dark Souls 2 is terrible. Had Dark Souls 1 never been a thing and we got this, I think it would have been praised more. The problem is it didn’t have the Miyazaki touch to it and felt pretty derivative. The soundtrack is a banger though.

Aussiesummer60d ago

And it will happen in the future when he doesn’t touch them as he is planning on.

MrBaskerville60d ago

I like DS 2, might even be my favorite of the 3. But it's a hard sell, there's so many obscure things you need to do to make it an enjoyable experience. So always find it hard to recommend, but it is worth the trouble.
