Take-Two Interactive CEO Strass Zelnick doesn't think it necessary to "punish" consumers for purchasing second-hand games, arguing that "pushing up quality" and delivering robust DLC is a more effective way of persuading people to keep hold of the disc. That said, he's bang up for a share of Microsoft's rumoured Xbox One "pre-owned fee", assuming the scheme actually exists.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the company senses "much, much higher anticipation" for GTA6 compared to GTA5. Unfortunately, the company is also discussing a "robust" cost reduction program that sounds really ominous.
GTA 6 could benefit from generative AI in these ways, says Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.
GTA7 will have the AI stuff, not happening yet with GTA6 imo, not with what was mentioned about building a in house AI which they haven't started with yet.
The world they build for GTA6 won't look as good visually as Spiderman 2, it's just not physically possible, AI or not.
Where is everyone who was telling me AI is going to make gaming worse in the other thread?
I sure hope so because the enemy AI and companion A.I sucked in Starfield
With recent rumors swirling around the potential for a successor to the Nintendo Switch, many fans and developers have been concerned about a possible lack of backward compatibility for such a console. And while the verdict hasn't quite been delivered on whether or not a "Switch 2" would have the feature, one major publisher doesn't seem too concerned about the prospect: Take-Two Interactive.
I disagree, with lots of people having big digital game libraries it's more of a must have than ever before, if the big guns are gonna kep pushing digital I think BC is the least we can expect.
But of course this guy will say this when rockstar are about to release a no effort port of RDR at a higher orice than it should be.
Funny because Take Two's upcoming Red Dead Redemption PS4 port would be completely redundant without the PS5's backwards compatibility
Another reason I enjoy pc. I can play games from any generation without having to hope console makers give a necessary feature like bc. It is 100% a needed feature and there’s many ps4 games that could get fps/res boost especially with new games now needing longer dev cycles.
"He said the company "somewhat hopeful" that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will allow Take-Two to participate in used game sales, though he did not provide any further details."
T2 wants a slice of that used game money
"Let's push up our quality, which you've seen in our Metacritic scores, and then let's make sure to give people DLC, often free, three or four weeks out; which is the time you're at risk for them trading in their game," he added. "If you can keep the game in consumer's hands for 8 weeks, you almost don't care anymore about used game sales because it's the first 8 weeks that really nail you."
This people usually trade in their games when they finish everything.Give us Free DLC and people would be less entinced to trade them in.
Of course the publisher should get a cut if the platform holder does. I really doubt platform holders could enforce such as system if the publisher didn't buy into it.
Fook this nickle 'n dime B$!!
MS have opened the flood gates with this stupid greedy policy...now everyone involved in development/publishing will want a slice of the pie!!
Lol...did MS and retailers really think they could have it all??
Damn Microsoft. Soon all publishers start saying this crap. You ALREADY got money for the game the first time! People have a right to do whatever the hell they want with they're games. This should be illegal and hope somebody educates them on the First Sale Doctrine.
