First of all, let’s get one thing straight; no one seems to be happy with Xbox One and that feeling is mutual between gamers both male and female. Being a female gamer has proven itself to be a challenge in modern gaming. Whereas before females just quietly fit in with a gaming crowd, still an outcast but not doubted, now some gaming females have taken our culture as a way to gain internet fame; these are not the females we will be discussing. In this article we are talking about the real females; the females who sign into their account everyday just to game. Those girls that just like everyone else want to sit down, relax and play a damn video game.

its also for people who live in this "ideal" living room scenario MS have created where there is wide open space with a couch in the middle facing the 50inch TV standing in all its glory atop an altar of entertainment as the centrepiece of the living room. whereas in reality that is certainly not the case for many people at all i sit at a desk in my bedroom with my pc and my games console linked to the same 24inch screen that has freeview. all it ever took was ONE button to switch between tv,pc and gaming. i don't even have to lift my hand or arm just press the button literally a few inches away from yet microsoft feels that i need to talk to a camera and wave and make gestures at it to do a task i never once had trouble doing. i cannot understand how this thought process came about.

I doubt it's going to connect your XBL account to Skype. It's just Skype for X1. You use your Skype username, your Skype friends, but it uses the Kinect 2.0's camera.

I'm just making assumptions like the author, but I think mine are more probable.

Seriously though, you can likely block all Skype requests from people not on your friends list. You can do that now on Skype if you so choose.

No doubt it will lead to a new level of harassment though. Seems that won't end no matter how primitive or advanced the technology is.

While I'm pretty sure women will be annoyed by idiots just as much as on the Xbox 360, I doubt the addition of the updated Kinect will result in much more harassment than the camera that came out for the Xbox 360 before Kinect.

What a crock. I've never been an "outcast but not doubted." The author should make such generalized statements. It's that kind of poor writing that has made the non-issue of gamer gender into the ridiculous trope it is today.

X1's problem is that it's trying to be an all-round entertainment device that plays games rather than a game console, and that approach may alienate gamers regardless of gender.

This is just plain dumb, the author talks as if these gamers are forced to reply to these messages. That is why on 360 there is a block communication button, and plus you can change settings as to who is aloud to video chat.

Before I even get into the sensationalist B.S. of the article, seriously. "Females" isn't the same as "Female's". "Worse" isn't the same as "worst". Give anyone an internet connection and a keyboard and they think they're a journalist. If you're going to take the time to sit down and write an article, do it properly.

Now then, the article. Your opinion is completely based on assumptions, and no information from yesterday's conference indicates any of it is true. It's likely Skype for X1 will work just like it does on other platforms in that it remains completely independent of your Xbox Live account, and instead just lets you use Skype on the X1 using the Kinect 2.0's camera.

Very poor article overall.
