Dead Island: Riptide Review | Canadian Online Gamers

Canadian Online Gamers: "I think Dead Island: Riptide would have been more successful if it was marketed and priced for what it really is, and that’s an expansion upon the original. Even the glitches would be overlooked as they came part and parcel with the first game as well. By presenting it as a fully priced new title most are expecting something that improves upon the original and addresses the mistakes of the past. It’s hard not to look at Riptide as an easy cash grab that required little to no new development. If you were a fan of the first and didn’t get bored of the repetitive zombie slaying you might enjoy your stay on Palanai, but I’m willing to put money on most players giving up after only a few hours into the game."

WTF? No. Congrats, you have poor taste both for games and for "journalism".

It's a new installment of a series that chose to fix not one issue from the *previous entry.

No improvements equal a lower score than it's predecessor.

That just makes sense.

But I don't understand why you threw a fit, to be honest.

Well, I partially agree.

Connectivity is awesome in this title. It works very, very well in the drop-in drop-out matter.

The game is harder, the pace is better, the story makes a little sense this time. New enemies are nice, as well as some other prizes for exploring. These are improvements.

The setting and atmosphere are not as nice as they were in the original game.

The rest is basically the same.

That's why I partially agree.

On this "review" subject, he just jumped on the bandwagon with as many intelligence as a zombie in a barbecue grill. Way to echo opinions.

Think about other 55/100 games. Are these in the same level as Dead Island: Riptide?

Finally, this is not a sequel. It's an expansion pack. They are just looking to avoid bankruptcy while they do their next really-new games. Hellraid for instance.

Exactly the same done with God of War: Ascension (excluding MP).
