PS4 Test Data and upcoming content spotted on PSN by hacker

PS3 scene member SKFU is known for his habit of sniffing and manipulating networks packets (in particular he likes to tinker the stuff Sony doesn’t necessarily want you to see when communications happen between your home network and the PSN). Today he spotted some content on the PSN that seems to be test data for the upcoming PS4.

i hope this doesn't trigger a reaction by sony which would make everybody else's experience miserable. from what i understand this not that big a deal?

I'd think not, this is pretty harmless stuff, pretty much the same as going through web code or data.

"From what I can see on the screenshot, the test data is not directly available on the regular “retail” PSN servers, but on the servers used by Sony internally for development or for QA (internal beta tests, if you prefer)"

This is intriguing. One of the most interesting aspects of PS4, besides games, is its network and infrastructure.

Known by who? I've been an active gamer for over 30 years. I've also been an active internet news reader for well over 5 years. How is it possible that a website entitled wololo.net with a "known" member called "SKFU" have any credibilty to a seriously involved gamer such as myself?

This generation has lasted 8+ years. I can tell you that these entities have emerged from nowhere while claiming an existence and reputation that just isn't there.

While their claims may be true, their claim of status is highly unfounded.

Didn't you know? We live in the social network era, where everyone with a Facespace account thinks they're famous, well known, or worth knowing about. Some of these mentally ill actually upload photos of their meals. Because everyone is dying to know what someone else had for lunch.

The SKFU guy has too much time on his hands. If he can gain secret access to QA servers with secret tools, then that's great. Seems to me though, he is only interested in making himself known. Otherwise, he would have kept is secret until something concrete and verifiable can be discovered for all us gamers. Seems to be nothing more than a common opportunist.

Wololo has been around on the PSP hacking scene for about 7 years now and is a credible source, if not in the gaming area, at least in the hacking area ( check e.g. http://kotaku.com/5891527/c... ).

For SKFU, it's a bit more controversial as he's been around for a while but it is hard to know if he has contributed anything more than simple network tools and rumors, but his habit of sniffing the networks is well known in the PS3 scene.

By the way, "scene" here means the hacking scene, not the gaming scene, that might be what's confusing you.
