ASDA: PlayStation 4 will launch in the UK this year

PlayStation 4 will release in the UK later this year, supermarket chain ASDA has stated.

Please be true, don't make us wait Sony, a Worldwide launch would be such a boon for PS4.

I'd rather see worldwide shortages than make ANY region wait for launch. Not only does it make your customer base in those regions feel like alienated, second-class citizens, it also makes sure that devoted fans who queue for hours and pre-order well in advance are rewarded for their dedication.

Agree! I'm in the UK and the wait between the PS3 launch in November for the US and the launch in March for us was torture! If there is such a gap between the PS4 region launches it would be even more torturous because the PS4 is looking to have a much better launch with so many good games and content coming out right away. I love Sony and I love PlayStation and after the PS4 comes out I'll love them even more. Please Sony, my pre-order is down, now do the right thing and release before Christmas!

Like anyone cared, PS4 will not launch in Turkey in 2013. While insignificant to most, it means that small markets will not see PS4 in 2013. I'm expecting a Japan / US launch first, and before the end of 2013 it should launch in bigger European markets.

Like anyone cared about Turkey PS4 launch I meant. It may be insignificant to people in Japan and US, for example, but the fact that at least it won't be launching in Turkey in 2013 can be extrapolated to similar markets.

look at smartphones, the highest selling phone last year (the galaxy S3) came out in the UK months before even the US got it, nevermind other regions

And from what i remember UK didnt get the S3 before most EU regions . Nor will UK get the S4 before those same regions

This sounds to me like Sony is aiming to working on the markets MS has a lead on, Like the U.S and now the UK.

So far Japan, the U.S and the UK(if this turns out true) are getting the system this year. Europe and Australia might be the only two markets that might have to wait until next year; i believe this might have to do with the fact that Sony does well in those two markets.

I so hope that if it launches in U.K. this year, that it also arrives in Australia in time for Xmas 2013, as I am really hoping Sony stop the horsing around & accommodating to the U.S. before there biggest market.
I mean, why would they not work there a$$es off to get the thing out in it's highest selling markets.
I know Australia can't compete with New York ALONE, when you take population into account, but, we buy there consoles in higher percentages, so we really deserve for Sony Japan to stop riding us with belated console launches, as opposed to the 2 big NTSC countries, & absolutely insultingly high, rip off, inflated price tags......not to mention the fact that they also rip out certain parts to make production cheaper, (even though they charge us nearly double the U.S. launch price, & yes, this is an attack on PS3 & the omission of backwards compatability).

Just give us PAL customers a break & decent deal for once Sony. I love my PS consoles, & WILL be owning a PS4 on launch morning (I'm anticipating another 12.00am launch), just as I did with PS2 & PS3, but I am really hoping the difference is equal treatment for us PAL gamers, & that's not just U.K., but also Australia, NZ, France (I think France is another huge PS oriented country), as well as, as many other Sony PLaystation centred countries, that snap up Sony consoles in as high as percentages as countries like Australia, France, U.K. & others.

I want to be hammering the new infamous, Killzone, Watch Dogs, as well as most of all, Knack, which to me defines the difference between Sony consoles, as opposed to "the others", as it's another awesome looking but risky, different, hugely risky new IP, that looks great, as well as, most of all, FUN as hell to play. It just looks like a class act FUN, FUN, FUN title, that has me excited to get my hands on my shiny new PS4. I mean, as much as I'm excited as heck for Killzone & Watch Dogs,they are games that are high quality pieces of software, that I know I'm gonna hammer & play the crap out of, but by the same token, they are games that give me that, "I know what to expect" feeling, whereas, Knack totally defies that & in the most exciting title, for that unknown quality.

I can't wait, but I hope Sony start looking after the ones that support them most & focus less on markets like the U.S., that are more inclined to whinge about price & ensure that our markets that suffer later releases, also get stripped out, feature omitted versions of these machines.

Everything rumoured so far points to PS4 being primed for launch UK side around late/early Oct/Nov 2013, but numbers will be limited.

So if you want one, get pre-ordering from a reputable outlet or online now!

I live in NA but i still hope PS4 is a world wide launch this holiday season.. EU is a very strong supporter of sony & they need to treat em better imo...

This console is going to be a major success i think.. Everyone ive talked with about it (even xbox fanboys) admit that its a bad ass system & want it.. Sony listened to all fans & devs about the problems this & last gen.. They listened and are delivering a fantastic machine that is easy to develop for, great horsepower, perfect controller, awesome features, & full 3rd party support.. I cant wait to actually see what it looks like & find out how much.. Ill pay anything under $600.. Hell i dont give a &#%^, ill pay whatever for it as long as its features & games are on point on launch day
