If there ever was a console which could be considered ubiquitous in the mainstream it would have to be the Nintendo Wii. The runaway success of Nintendo’s Wii cannot be stressed enough — it was a complete monster of the last generation, surpassing everyone else in the industry and even transcending the realm of gaming and making it into the world of technology and pop culture in general. Everyone young and old was interested in the Wii, with it not only appealing to gamers but to to just about anyone with a pulse. The question was if Nintendo could get lightning to strike twice and for the Wii U to be as big of a success.
"The Spain-based indie games publisher Firenut Games and Granada-based (Spain) indie games developer Trigger the Monster, today announced with great joy and thrill that their dark fantasy adventure/management game “Search of Light” (AKA SOL), is now available for PC (via Steam) and consoles (PS5, PS4, and the Nintendo Switch)." - Jonas Ek, TGG.

Feral Cat Den return with Nirvana Noir, a sequel to Genesis Noir centering around two different universes, and it truly feels like a bigger bang.
Hard to tell at this moment and until E3 comes I think we all would be able to tell. Based on the specs and exclusives and games that are skipping the Wii U tells a lot and Nintendo haven't really started pushing out some exclusives (expect some at E3 2013 (the best E3 ever)). I think at this point the Wii U has a slight chance but if the Xbox rumours about this online and block used game thing is true we could see the Wii U having a bigger chance but I would save this thought until E3.
If the 720 rumours are true then my reaction is simple....

For now I'm not interested in the WiiU... but if the PS4 and next Xbox come with no used games crap or the always online crap (or something similar), then the WiiU is probably going to be my next gen console... along with my PC.
already love the Wii U and the set up. I'm fully aware that its not going to have the graphical capability as the ps4 and next xbox. When i want great graphics, i play my pc. Gonna wait to see what happens with ps4 and xbox at e3 to make a decision if i want one of those. WiiU just has my favorite exclusives like smash bros, zelda, metroid, and mario, great graphics or not, i love those series and the tablet controller is great.
Nintendo will win next gen again, their first party titles are always stellar.
The DS, 3DS and Wii were all "DOOOOMED" and look at them now. I look forward to seeing history repeat itself.
i think we should include the upcoming steambox as well
