It seems these days that the video game industry is changing faster than ever with new consoles, advances in PC gaming, and the emergence of mobile and tablet gaming all grabbing headlines over the past few years. Well, a new piece of high-end gaming hardware is due out at the end of the month courtesy of Razer. It's portable, powerful, and full of promise. It also has a price tag that packs quite the punch.
The Logitech G Cloud and Razer Edge could be the first of many in a new class of handheld console.
With this year looking like Xbox might have a ton of Solid games, a Game Pass windows Tablet would likely help! This year is full of GP games.
It's not going to happen, because many of these are streaming devices, and the dedicated hardware options are all too expensive outside of Steam Deck. The vast majority of people are better off just using their phone instead of a dedicated stream box, but even then mobile controllers aren't flying off the shelves.
And MS has enough to deal with selling their home hardware, they don't need to go out and make a dedicated handheld to sell themselves. Keep the focus on making good games and having consistent releases for the next several years, then this can become a conversation when the mobile hardware is easily available, powerful enough (technically we're already here), and the cost is within reason to push a mobile GamePass experience.
im not sure if MS actually wants to do that.
they're more focused on their own hardware and bringing Gamepass to Microwaves, Fridges and the likes.
i think the xbox community wouldnt be intrested in that. just a guess rly.
I am using game pass all the time through my phone with Razer Kishi. Works great. Playing in bed before going to sleep has been a great way to relax after work and dealing with the kids.
The Razer CES 2023 showcase included lots of product announcements, from the Edge handheld to the Leviathan V2 Pro soundbar and much more.
The Razer Edge is an almost mythical beast with how hard it is to find in stores. Expensive and powerful - Razer let the TPReview office borrow one for a while to do an in depth review. We've benchmarked it, played games on it and tried to find a way to use it comfortably.
So wait... When you're playing games on your TV the tablet stays on and retains the same feed shown on the television? Do not like. It should at least function as a secondary screen. Hopefully devs will understand this idea and utilize it in their upcoming games.
Other than this small complaint the hardware seems really solid.
Nice and expensive
Nothing about the battery? That's the biggest concern here.
Users will be better off building gaming PC's or buying a console or handheld with that kind of investment. Also there is no way a device carrying that much power will have good battery life.
with that aside I'd like to say that after using an android tablet for some time now i can say i am disappointed by the gaming side of it since they lack depth and the controls are terrible for the ones that try to emulate buttons and analog sticks on the touch screen. Also the gimmicky accelerometer controls for racing games almost makes them unplayable. What boggles my mind the most is that none of the developers on the android platform tried to copy the controls for the touch screen only games on the Nintendo DS that were acceptable.
This literally has to be the first product I have ever really disliked by Razer. They usually make really awesome stuff, this just seems like a quick sell for Windows 8.
Seems like a waste and I am a huge fan of Razer. Their mouses and keyboards are top to none, they make nice gaming laptops also, too expensive like all the others but not as bad looking as this tablet that is for sure.
