Amazon ceases sales of SimCity as EA shuts down in-game features

Electronic Arts' latest Maxis-developed computer game, SimCity, has only been out for two days and already online retailer Amazon.com is no longer selling it. While in most cases that means they are sold out, that's not the case here. In fact, Amazon *chose* to stop selling the much-anticipated game not because of inventory, but rather due to customer dissatisfaction.

Well Eu launch was last night EA added a few new servers within 30 mins and worked flawlessly. I don't see what the problem is.

Can't recall ever seeing such ridiculous issues in a game and persist for so long. The icing on the cake is that it's freaking Sim City, a game most users have come to love as a single player experience. With all the controversy surrounding the always online rubbish, you'd have thought EA would at least be focused on assuring that it was stable.

Always Online DRM will bring nothing good. Look at diablo III. its a good game but there's so many negativity towards it and blizzard. There's really no sense in always online, it should be "Optional" if you like to connect or not. what if for example a lightning storm brought down your net connection but you still have electricity. problem is you can't play anymore. Internet is still not as widespread as electricity so I don't know why companies insist on things like these. They should know better.

Where were you when BF3 came out or BC2??? Every time a game gets released by EA I expect at the most a week of outage when it comes out, a month of patching to get it to usable, and then the specials to purchase ingame add-ons. I know what I get to when I purchase an EA game and it sucks!

Hopefully EA can realize that an 'always online' connection benefits absolutely no one. No clue why this game even needed it, the previous SimCity games were incredible without it.

I have sided with Steam. Square, EA and the rest need to stop making their on Online gaming bit and just go with steam (or another) and none of that GFWL crap either. Steam and GMG and a few other services, i'm fine with, but every publisher doesn't need their own online gaming application.
