Isn't this what Sony did with PS3 though? I swear that's what had happened.... which was what resulted in 360 being prematurely released and the OBVIOUS hardware faultiness because Microsoft was pressured to release faster....RROD Anyone?.... It was because Microsoft felt pressured and bought it this current generation, and they paid the price of it with the worst god damn hardware flaws in gaming history with the highest failure rate.

Yeah, but you're talking about a year release head-start. No matter how early Microsoft wants to release, it's nothing considering the PS4 is launching this holiday. No way in hell Microsoft is anywhere near ready to combat that by much...if any.

I'd rather wait and see on Microsofts end at their launch after 1-3 months to see for one, how fast it'll get hacked and secondly, how long before a new form of 'RROD' comes about for their new console. Then I shall find a group of like-minded people to laugh with!

Could be. But I'm guessing MS was planning to release this year. They may have been suprised that the PS4 is releasing this year. I doubt they planned to go head to head with Sony. I wouldn't want to, especially not if they come with a similar price point.

You can't be serious, this is the first year since the introduction of the the X360 that Microsoft didn't have any game set to be released at the end of the year, same as Sony. Of course the X720 is going to be released this year with a set of launch lineup ready to be unleashed at E3. Microsoft has spy everywhere and know exactly what Nintendo and Sony are up to, just ask the hacker that was caught by the FBI.

Wait, I'm a little confused here. Was it the "could be" that I can't be serious about? I'm just saying its possible, not likely. I do think the PS4 release this year could have been unexpected, only because Xbox has been out a year longer and PS3 still has big releases this year. Given the option, I think MS would have preferred to launch alone.

I don't think they have spy's everywhere. I'm sure they seek out as much information as they can, but you make it sound like they're running their own MI6 or something, with people on the MS payroll working for Sony and Nintendo.

Totally agree - I personally thought the PS4 reveal was exceptional (I've been gaming a long time, and in the context of console reveals, we saw more of almost everything than in any previous reveal to-date).

But.....we know almost nothing about MS' plans, let alone how they're feeling. Prior to Sony's reveal, most people had money on MS launching first, so they're probably some ways along. At least it was correctly titled as an opinion piece, but it's pretty speculative.
