Red Faction: Death Of A PlayStation Series

THQ abandoned Red Faction following Armageddon and there was little fuss about the IP during THQ's bankruptcy auction. What went wrong for the series?

I loved the first Red Faction. The split screen multiplayer with bots was a lot of fun. The ability to demolish walls with your guns was amazing back then.

The 1st red faction was by far the best IMO, they just got progressively worse after that.

Red Faction 1 and 2 were amazing. The other two sucked.

No two was awful. Three let you run a car with a bomb stuck to it into a tower and knock it down when you detonated it. Therefore it was great. Armageddon was mediocre.

Two had a brilliant story, characters and gameplay.

Sure number two had destruction, But the story sucked, Game play sucked and the graphics sucked. Therefore it sucked.

I loved Guerilla, amazing open world. Haven't played the originals though. However, I have played Armageddon, and what a letdown!

You really need to play it, i picked it up a couple months ago and i love it. I mean even the controls are decent for a ps2 game, most fps games on ps2 drive me nuts. Just a word of advice save pretty often if i recall if you die you have to go all the way to your last save point. I learned that the hard way O.o

Definitely enjoyed the first game for Xbox 360/PS3. Open world sandbox on Mars? Destructible environments? Had a ball.

much of Red Faction 1 comes from the cancelled Descent 4. The Descent games were never on playstation

Not a single Red faction game has been playstation exclusive

The first was a ps2 console exclusive and was exclusive for 4 months. Other than that it kinda just went to everything

Red faction 1 was amazing and to be frank theres been nothin like it since, I've got great memory's of carving my own path though the under ground of mars.

Red Faction 1 & 2 were the only two in the series I ever played. Early in the PS2 days I remember playing the demo of the first Red Faction so many times-- the destructibility was pretty awesome for it's time. Once the series went from 1st person to 3rd person, I lost interest and never played any of the others.

The move to 3rd person was understandable. Where the first 2 focused on terain, the 3rd was focused on destroying buildings so a first person camera would result in deaths because you would have limited view and building would fall on you where a third person camera shown the building better.

I wish we could have gotten a HD release of Red faction 1 and 2.

The first 2 were excellent, destroying the ground on tanks and see the fall was pretty cool back then.

I loved 1.

2 was alright, spent 100% of the wondering where the destruction dissapeared to.... After how awesome it was in the first game, I thought it'll be even better in the sequel... How wrong I was, minus a few walls that was about it :(

Red Faction 2 on Xbox was a great game.

The multiplayer WITH BOTS, was a ton of fun.

There were something like 30-40 maps, a bunch of game types, enough variety in weapons.
