New Metal Gear Rising Videos - Lots of gameplay, Mistral boss fight and Dwarf Gekko in action

Famitsu and 4Gamer have posted new videos showing more Metal Gear Rising Revengeance gameplay. You can see what controlling Dwarf Gekkos is going to be like, and the Mistral boss fight, and more. Obviously it’s better to avoid watching this footage if you don’t want to get spoiled too much.

I can't wait to get my hands on this game. The demo was awesome once I got used to the parry!

Psychonaut4108d ago

Agree. maybe patch the "cut" system I don't know why buy it felt alittle off to me. I thought it be alot smoother and precise. lol btw why cant the battle data be in the head >.< and not the left hand.

LOGICWINS4108d ago (Edited 4108d ago )

The parry system difficult to get used to. Still haven't beaten the wolf boss. I like the game, but considering Raidens a super cyborg ninja badass, hes not very agile. Dodging is slow, although realistic in a sense. The parry is the easily the thing that most have a problem with. I wish u were able to parry mid combo, would have made the game a lot less frustrating.

With such a hard to master parry system with only a small window for error, it should have been part of the tutorial. I'll keep trying to master it though.

And why is it that I don't always get one of those "blue spines" that provide health when I kill an enemy? At one point I was at 30% health, killed 3 enemies..nothing.

RyuX194108d ago

You are able to parry mid combo.

Allsystemgamer4108d ago

When u see that orange flash just light attack+direction and u parry. It's really simple.

Practice with the 3 beginning guys. It's gives u an advanced warnin when to parry and u can do it mid combo aswell.

grayfoxx8814108d ago

Yeah, I think the tutorial could have been better as well, but it's just a demo.

I had to go online and search how to do other assassinations and air juggles. I didn't think the parry system was difficult, but you do have to be agressive to get a good rating after a battle.

You can get health from any enemy in the demo, not sure about the boss, though. Instead of using the right analog stick for precision slices during slow motion to hit the red box, I use the square and triangle buttons for flurry attacks. It's much easier to get health that way.

LOGICWINS4108d ago

I'm pretty sure Raiden has to be perfectly still in order to parry.

RyuX194108d ago (Edited 4108d ago )

He doesn't have to be perfectly still. You can parry at any moment. All you have to do is tilt the left stick toward your opponent that is attacking you and press the Square or X button (for Xbox users).

It only works when an enemy is about to attack you so once you get the hang of it parrying attacks will become second nature.

Lord_Sloth4108d ago

I've parried in the middle of several of Raiden's moves. Locking onto the boss helps when fighting him. And in order to get the spines you have to hit the red square just right. Cross-hairs will appear in it when lines up properly.

LOGICWINS4108d ago

Thx alot guys. Much appreciated. Didn't know about assassinations and air juggles. And how do u lock on?

RyuX194108d ago

Press R2 or the Right Bumper to lock-on. It's a toggle so you don't need to hold it.

CarlosX3604107d ago

I felt the same. I love Metal Gear, and I like Metal Gear Rising, but the parry system is a little difficult.

And, secondly, to get that "blue spine" cut in the right place - You need to cut around the heart or spine to get that red detection. It's more of a hit detection problem than it is you.

Same here the only issue that i had with the game was the parry.

@RYUX19

Thanks for the info i had problems with the geckos jumping all over the place.

Williamson4108d ago

I played the demo and I enjoyed it more than the dmc one. I'm probably going to pick this game up, but im hoping i'll be able to understand the story since I never finished or made any progress in any mgs game. I tried out mgs 4 and the hd collection but I just really suck at those games.

TemplarDante4108d ago (Edited 4108d ago )

I reject the new Dante in DmC. If Capcom never brings back our Old Dante, that series is dead to me.
This game will be the new king of hack n' slash. Day 1 buy for me MGR !!

Imagine what Raiden would do to the new alcoholic dependent Dante.

Raiden: "You must be stopped..."

new Dante: "What was that?!?!?!?!?
How about FFFFF**K You!!!!, You WH**E!!!!!!!!"
new Dante would jump into the air screaming like a girl and before you know it...
.., well, isnt it obvious? Raiden would dice junkie Dante into a million pieces. :)

Metal Gear Solid Can Work Without Hideo Kojima

There are more good non-Kojima Metal Gear games than one would realize. Scientifically, three examples prove a trend, and in this feature are three excellent Metal Gear games that Hideo Kojima did not direct.

I hope so, still cant forget MGS Survive , the first MGS game without Kojima involvement and it was a complete failure, the thing is Kojima way of thinking is outside the box and that's why their games 99% end up unique, original and a almost instant classic. MGS series are full of intricate things that somehows connects to each other, Lalulilelo, the Patriots, Outher heaven, Foxhound, PMCs , heck even Kojima manage to insert DARPA in there lol, a US government Defense Agency. So is really great MGS3 Remake is reviving the series but without Kojima who knows of the end result, I hope Konami have another or more developers insight their studios who can also think outside the box.

senorfartcushion326d ago

It actually can’t. But it won’t matter.

Kojima is Metal Gear the same way that Christopher Nolan is The Dark Knight, or David Lynch is Twin Peaks: The Return episode 8. Artistry is the creation of a thing from your own thoughts and feelings. Take away the original artist’s thoughts and feelings and you have a new thing entirely.

This isn’t going to stop the mega corporation creating a fake version and spending millions TELLING customers that it’s made with the same thoughts and feelings. The masses will buy the idea the same way the corporation will sell the idea.

just_looken326d ago

I guess everyone forgot metal gear solid rising was tossed to platnium games with a story script and that is it.

Z501325d ago

Kojima was involved in Rising tho

just_looken325d ago

kpjima just did the story everything else was platnium games look it up.

Hence i said script

neutralgamer1992326d ago

i think the bigger issue is whether or not Konami is actually interested in fully funding AAA games development. Even this remake is done by a studio not really known in gaming industry. Quality remake/projets vs cheap cash in quick releases. Which way will Konami head. I am a huge MGS fan and i feel like Kojima did long time MGS fans dirty with how made MGS5 and it's story elements

senorfartcushion326d ago

Remakes and remasters provide a gateway through to producing AAA games faster and cheaper.

RaveTears326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Actually MGS Portable Ops which was technically the first canon MGS game that Kojima wasn’t mainly involved with it. Kojima was only the producer but not the writer and director.

Konami did other MGS spin off that were successful but that because Konami put effort. Just along Konami is not lazy and cash grab, they can a MGS game without Kojima.

i mean sure, but he made it the thing it is today and why people love it so much.

i think its not easy to replicate.

Flawlessmic326d ago

I doubt it could.

Say what you want about the bloke, but his games are uniquely his.

I don't think anyone makes games like kojima does, for better or worse.

Could mgs continue without him, yea maybe, but it would lacking his genius so wouldn't be the same.

Soulsborne326d ago

Well , he already created it. They just have to recreate it? Not like its a new concept or IP. Trash article.

Terry_B326d ago

Yes. It only needs motivated clever people.

Why We Need Metal Gear Rising 2

Demand for a sequel is about to skyrocket, like the good ol' days of 2013!

In case you're living under a suspiciously rock-shaped object, the recent PlayStation Showcase revealed that a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 will be coming, alongside a Master Collection of Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3. While it is a remake of an existing game, there's a great deal of significance to it, considering the last time a game in the series came out was back in 2018 with Metal Gear Survive (and the less said about that, the better). Konami's decision to pull a Konami and feud with series creator Hideo Kojima has long left the fate of Metal Gear uncertain, but this recent announcement has led to all bets being off as to where Metal Gear can go from here.
