Three Things We Want From Fallout 4

Gary Swaby of TheKoalition.com writes:
Recently our editor in chief Richard Bailey wrote an awesome article 13 Games that will be revealed in 2013. But after his article went live rumours started circulating that Fallout 4 would be revealed by Bethesda this year. I for one am extremely excited at the possibility of a new Fallout game developed by Bethesda. Fallout: New Vegas was cool but we all know that Fallout is rightfully Bethesda territory, and nobody can nail the post-apocalyptic intensity like them.

Fallout 3 was one of my favourite games this generation, and it did a lot of things right. So I don’t have a typical list of 5 things I want from Fallout 4, but I do have 3. Let us know if you agree with this wishlist below.

If you're a Fallout fan, you should check out this article and see if you agree or disagree with the theories brought up.

I would like to see some kind of online component like demon's souls/dark soul's but more fallout oriented like maybe show on the map where your friends are or some kind of hint on the map left by your friends, something like that would be nice.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4118d ago (Edited 4118d ago )

I want them to make it for pc first. Wouldn't want this game to pull a RE,Splinter cell, Dead space 3 and before the wider audience.

grailly4118d ago

I mostly agree, though the things they wanted were mainly: "make it better!"

I disagree though that the faction weren't good. I loved having the factions in fallout: NV, starting a few missions with each and having to make a choice once they asked you to attack another one was fun. It also introduced very different endings which is greatly appreciated. Hey, it's nice to see choices have consequences, for once!

More Unique Weapons.....I love the challenge of finding those things, especially if your a low level. I used to try and get the Vengeance in Death Claw Sanctuary when I just came out of the vault, I used to go to the tec museum to get some Stealth boys then go....it was tense.

Shame they don't offer that kind of challenge in Elder Scrolls.....mostly everything is just randomly generated weapons wise.

Oh and I know this might sound harsh but don't add children if we can't kill them...look at Mayor Mcreedy in the last game, he was a little prick and I couldn't even blow his smug head off.

grailly4118d ago

I think they should make the weapon plans easier to find. I didn't build many weapons because I never really had the plans for them.

but I agree, more unique weapons.

PhoenixRising374118d ago

i want one of these 2 things:
1: take away enemies that fire on you from afar because the player can't shoot at long range without a sniper rifle but the enemies can.
2: give the player the ability to fire far away accurately.

more than often i would lose a ton of health from enemies firing at me from a mile away with SMG's and Pistols.

FunkMacNasty4118d ago

I highly disagree with the artcle's #2 point:

#2 - Make loot more meaningful. The author says that theres tons of loot but all he needs is ammo and health?? Whaaaat!? I found every piece of loot in the Fallout universe to be worth something, even if nothing more than a handful of bottle caps at a vendor - especially when you have recipies/blueprints to make weapons and potions.. you'll wind up looking for coveted and abstract things like railroad spikes, steam guages and toy cars.. And remember the "Rock-IT launcher" from Fallout 3??? Once you build that thing, every peice of loot became valuble ammo. Shooting a teddy bear and bowling pins at enemies at high velocity ftw!!

If there's one thing I want from the next Fallout, its a higher level cap. I could play that game all day!

Fallout 4's 'next gen' update is over 14 gigs, breaks modded saves, & doesn't change much at all

We were expecting problems with mod support, but there are a lot of other issues.

isarai19h ago

Wow what the actual hell 🤣🤣🤣

just_looken19h ago

This is why you get the GOG version on gog you can select the version of the game to download.

On pc fallout 4 fallout new vegas and skyrim are all broken on steam because they all got the same "next gen" update.

Skyrim dec 2023
https://www.pcgamer.com/sky...

Can not find new vegas but anyone that modded it knows the script extender there was also broken

Valkyrye17h ago

Not accidental, they want modders to stop modding their older games to force them to mod Shitfield.

just_looken15h ago

There doing the same on starfield with a mods store and blocking mods

There goal is like blizzard and what they did with fallout 76 you make mods they can sell and you become a slave.

On skyrim they have "trusted" mod devs now basically a badge that lets your mod on the store you get a crumb of the sale when someone buys it.

Inverno14h ago

lol to the disagrees, the last Skyrim update broke mods too. They've been trying to kill mods to monetize them in creation club for years, it's not a stretch that they purposely put out patches just to break free mods.

porkChop12h ago

The disagrees are from people who have common sense. They aren't trying to kill mods. Most mods for any game will break with a new update because they rely on files/code that have been changed. This isn't new. Even with Bethesda this would happen way before the creation club. Mod support is literally one of the things that got Bethesda to where they are, and they're one of the only devs that releases comprehensive mod tools for each of their games.

Sirch2h ago

This is business 101.

These are massive companies who are here to make money, not please us gamers. They will charge whatever the market will bare, and will monetize everything they can until gamers stop buying.

People need to wake up and smell the capitalism that has come to gaming. They aren’t here for us any more, they are here for their profits.

Chocoburger13h ago

Over 14 GBs and doesn't change much at all? What? Taking up that much drive space for a pathetic 'remastering' is shameful.

Par for Bethesda.

Aussiesummer12h ago

It's not a remaster, it's a next gen update.

badz14912h ago

LOL people are actually expecting massive improvements or something? From Bethesda?? the same people who released Skyrim multiple times and the all look like shit? THAT Bethesda? are people for real?

Profchaos11h ago(Edited 11h ago)

The ps5 version doesn't change a ton but from my small playtime it's enough to make me want to replay it just to have it running at 60.

A side note to this my PS4 version no longer boots after it's "update" so I guess that's what it feels like to own a Bethesda game on PC

Bethesda Looking Into PlayStation Plus Subscribers Not Being Able to Upgrade Fallout 4

Bethesda Customer Support Manager confirmed they're looking into Fallout 4 not being offered to those who redeemed via PlayStation Plus for free.

Why would anyone downvote this? Don't be silly. This is great news. Thanks for sharing, darthv72.

MWeaver58918h ago

I think it's because the main question for many was whether or not the PlayStation Plus Collection version would support the upgrade. To me it seems obvious the PlayStation Plus Extra version would, though it is nice to see confirmation it will.

That said, Bethesda highlighting the PlayStation Plus Extra version low-key confirms they do not plan on upgrading the other version given to players. Naturally some people are pissed, as even the in-game phrasing says "free for all players."

VenomUK17h ago

@MWeaver589 Exactly this point, it was advertised as free for everyone.

VincentVanBro16h ago(Edited 16h ago)

It’s just a lame solution to the problem, even if it is a solution. The comment shouldn’t be downvoted though.

Christopher16h ago

I mean, it's at least something. It's 'good' news compared to the alternative. Not darth's fault even.

Also, I highly believe this will get fixed. PR nightmare if they don't since the PS store doesn't differentiate/have different text for those with or without the PS+/PS Collection version.

VenomUK9h ago

@Christopher wrote "Why would anyone downvote this? Don't be silly. This is great news."

Is this your first time here?! And when you question the downvotes you get downvoted - I don't make the rules but that's the rules!

Even though I claimed the PS Plus version, I still have my physical GOTY PS4 edition and was able to get my PS5 upgrade a little earlier today. Physical media FTW lol. Hopefully it won't be too long before the PS Plus owners also get to upgrade their copies.

JackBNimble16h ago

My digital version works just fine , what's your point?

raWfodog16h ago

My point is that even though I claimed the digital version via my PS+ Essential sub, I was still able to upgrade to the PS5 version using my PS4 GOTY physical version that I bought years ago. Otherwise I would have had to wait for the fix to be released, however long that will take. Isn’t that what the article was about?

JackBNimble11h ago(Edited 11h ago)

No, you claimed an upgrade that everyone with the physical or digital license can other then ps+ extra .
And what you hold is nothing more then a physical license.

And the article is talking about people with ps+extra who didn't own the game previously to it going on ps+ .

I bought the game years ago to ... digitally, my whole point was to your statement " physical media Ftw" . So what does physical have to do with anything?

k2d5h ago

Should have looked into the 75% deal before the update, but I just assumed I owned it. Thankfully I found the physical disc, ha...

blacktiger14h ago

I expect this and also no releasing on next ps console. Pretty simple. Please don't be suprise

purple1013h ago(Edited 3h ago)

More like not releasing on next Xbox, all games sell better on ps due to 1 more consoles in the wild, &, 2 ps players buy more games. The fallout games take a long time to make I assume, probably want to make a good profit on that development time

Literally yesterday “Chairman And CEO Microsoft Satya Nadella:

"We committed to meeting players where they are by brining great games to more people on more devices."
