That's bad, but nice to know FF14 wont be affected.

Now they should finish that fast and work on Versus!

-Mika-4148d ago

It just the LA office so it not that big of a deal. Nothing of importance was lost. Now if this was Japan, then we would have something to worry about.

Ranma14148d ago

I feel bad for the people who lost their jobs. No doubt they lost jobs because their not as profitable.

Things arent going well for Square Enix these days....i wonder why

NeXXXuS4148d ago

*cough* Final Fantasy XIII *cough*

Godmars2904148d ago

FF14 actually. They sunk a lot of money into it, and put in even more to fix it. Then you have to look at FF13 and all else they've done yet ultimately failed like Front Mission, the Last Remnant or even the multiplayer Strider clone.

They haven't done a good job this whole console gen. Had to buy Edios just so they claim an honest success.

EddieNX 4148d ago

They also announce it's time to start shoe horning old games and 2D 3DS games onto IOS in an attempt to recoup some money, but lose yet even more respect..

zgoldenlionz4148d ago

I'm glad that people that own a tablet but never had a console can play FF3 Crono games tactics crystal defenders and a slew more of great SE games.

There's nothing wrong with being on all platforms.

negroguy4148d ago

Gonna try out the new FFXIV, its looking like they made some real changes. That should have been what they released first rather than that horrendous game they released.

sithsylar4148d ago

Yep i keep hearing great things about that new mmo and shit judging from this cgi trailer it takes me back to vintage square:

I've been playing the alpha for about a week and I can tell you its a solid MMO I was very disappointed with the original launch and this game is light years better.

DigitalRaptor4148d ago (Edited 4148d ago )

If they don't re-announce Versus XIII early next year and show us an update, then I just have no idea what they're doing.

No signs of life for Final Fantasy X HD either. :/

sithsylar4148d ago

I really agree hey i so want FFX HD arghhh.

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

H92d ago

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog1d 13h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.

VincentVanBro13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

What a word vomit, rambling, turd of an article that simply states the obvious. Classic exputer.

Yuji Naka guilty of insider trading breaks silence to accuse Square Enix producer of lies

Yuji Naka was fined $1.2 million and given a suspended jail sentence for the crime.

I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence

solideagle15d ago

can you please give some of us who don't know anything about this, a summary of what happened?

Chocoburger15d ago

Balan was knowingly rushed out by S-E, it had an extremely short dev cycle and was fairly low budget.
Naka was the game's director until near the end when he was fired or perhaps he quit, I forgot.

carrotcakeag15d ago

@Chocoburger Yeah they did fire and replace him which caused him to unload a bunch of rants about the company. The project only existed because of Naka in the first place, he convinced Square to give him one shot at making a platformer. They gave him an opportunity but pulled the rug out before he was done for reasons not explained.

Please o please don't turn dragon quest into final fantasy square enix we dont wont that. Dragon quest works well just as it I. Plus you'll piss off Japanese fans to.

jznrpg18d ago

Hopefully they don’t. From this it doesn’t sound like that is the case and development is just taking too long.
