GTA V preference provides The Last of Us dilemma

It has been a while since we last saw any new The Last of Us eye candy, but just as many hoped – we had a brand new peek at the game during the 2012 VGAs over the weekend in Los Angeles. A brand new trailer has been revealed by Naughty Dog showing a combination of both gameplay and cutscenes, but more importantly for fans – a confirmation at last on a solid release date for the game.

The game is expected to be one of the final highlights on the PlayStation 3 along with GTA V before the PS4 arrives, although having said that there is now Dark Souls 2 apparently on the way to the PS3 as well, thus proving that the console is far from dead just yet.

Ellie features heavily throughout just like the previous reveals for the game, while there is also a glimpse of civilization as well in a busy town area which doesn’t appear to have been infected yet. Going back to GTA V though, is there possibly a danger of The Last of Us playing second fiddle to Rockstar’s game, since we know it will release during Spring 2013?

I can't wait for them both, roll on 2013!

DonMingos4154d ago

I'll definetily be getting both. Though TLOU will be my priority in 2013.

I must "live" that game

miyamoto4154d ago

yeah will get both games
end of the line for this FUD flame bait article.

Were publishers afraid of launching games along side COD every year? nope.

Thatguy-3104154d ago

Believe me the people that have a PS3 that I know WILL be getting The Last of Us no matter if GTA V comes out within the same month. Idk I guess the whole concept of the game is something PS3 gamers have been craving for a while. There is a ton of games coming out in the first half of next year but I'm pretty sure people will find a way to get the game. Personally I prefer it more than GTA V since I wasn't a big fan of IV. Plus I always prefer somewhat linear games over open world because I always invest myself into the story more. It's rare when I get through an open world game. Pretty sure I ain't the only one.

SageHonor4154d ago

I'll be getting both day no doubt

I think GTAV will obviously sell more, but everyone that bought and played Uncharted will definitely buy TLOU. It's also more mature and its violence cant be marketed like GTAV (which is comical).

Damn, TLOU won everything at this year's E3, it blows everyone away everytime we see a trailer or gameplay video. And it's ND ffs! They've proved enough this gen with Uncharted.

All everyone is thinking is if this is GOTY material or GOTD material.

GTA and Rockstar's Games has been more mature since GTA IV (and that's one of the things many people didn't like in the new GTA, mixed with the realism). It just does not have a serious tone as the TLOU seems to have but that doesn't mean they're not on the same level of maturity (this gen's Rockstar titles are just satirical but mature).

Since GTA V is on schedule and slated to be insane, while the last of us is the newest of the Duke Nukem Forever fiascos... I'd go with GTA V.

"while the last of us is the newest of the Duke Nukem Forever fiascos.."

What??? I think you're thinking of The Last Guardian. The only conclusion I could draw from your comment is that you're talking about the delayed release of TLG, but TLoU is a different game lol.

Ot, Last of Us for sure. GTA V, not interested. Been there done that 4 times, with 4 leaving me cold.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing692d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos2d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy852d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
