Which Game Maker Needs A "Reboot?"

A whole lot of video game franchises have received reboots this generation, but what's the one game company that needs a total overhaul...?

Square Enix, Capcom, and Ninja Theory. (I'm sure there are more, I just can't think of them at the moment.)

They need a change in staff, those guys are A-holes. At least the higher ups are... Seeing how they acted so unprofessionally toward fans of DMC was just sad.

Ninja Gaiden needs a reboot badly

Godmars2904303d ago

No, just needed to have been thought out more. NG3 anyway.

But considering that I'm playing NG2S now, hating the camera while going to scene to scene with little or no sense, I'd say the whole series started out broken outside of hacking and slashing.

a lot of people harshly bag on Square Enix I think

it's widely accepted that all Final Fantasy games from the original right through to XII have all been great.
then came XIII, which I though was nowhere near as bad is people made it out to be but nevertheless was received poorly along with the release of XIV. so they make two "bad" games and now they're one of the worst devs/publishers right now? of course they did things like hold off Versus XIII in favour of unwanted XIII sequels but other than that, what else did they do wrong? I genuinely think that Versus is a really ambitious project and they just want to make the best thing they've ever made.
people put Sqaure Enix in the same boat as the likes of Capcom and that honestly isn't fair. they've even patched and fixed XIV and from what I hear it's really good, and on top of that Type-0 was received very well.

at least when I got Final Fantasy XIII the presentation was wonderful, not broken and filled with game breaking bugs.

so yes they don't need a reboot and people are being harshly critcal of them. I can't wait for Versus XIII and new Final Fantasy titles on next gen systems built on the Luminous engine :)

Well said, and something I've been saying all along.

One of my friends, a longtime FF fan who prefers the old games(pre-PS1) over anything else, recently got a PS3 and XIII: he can't put the game down. Unlike a lot of people, he went in with no preconceived notions, and is loving the game.

Square-Enix has developed or published a slew of great games- or at least not terrible games- including TWEWY, Nier, Star Ocean, Crisis Core, Just Cause 2, Deus Ex, Sleeping Dogs, and so on. As a big rpg publisher, however, a lot of their stuff has been on handhelds this gen... because that's where the rpg market is.

Capcom and Activision I can agree with, and EA is well on their way, as well. But I think Square-Enix is really just getting a bad rap for no good reason.

Even if they do crack down all a person needs is an Everdrive and a regular old school machine. Or modify a disc based console that has a dead laser to boot off an SD card. Some of those illegal devices look neat and some of them are just plain crap.

This won't stop it unless you have a great service.

What a stupid thing to be wasting time, money and effort. Aren't these guys literally drowning right now? Maybe y'all should focus more on that instead trying to stop people from playing old games no longer being sold.

Inverno2d ago

Pretty sure I've read and seen parts of Italy experiences/ing pretty bad floodings. Id argue that's more important than trying to prevent the sale of emulation devices.
