This week has brought us an interesting story about Wii U eShop restrictions that are limited to European consoles, but perhaps provide greater insight into the relationship between gamers and their new Nintendo systems. It came to light that what was initially thought to be a botched parental control issue on the platform was actually a deliberate policy, limiting downloads of 18-rated games to four hours a day — they can be accessed between the hours of 11pm and 3am. This disregards the submitted age on your Nintendo Network ID and the Parental Control settings — even if you have them all disabled — on the system.
Nintendo Life looks at this policy, how it affects gamers and its wider implications.
TNS: Based on its most recent ESG data, Nintendo boasts a remarkably low staff turnover rate of just 1.9%, with virtually no reported layoffs.
Well it doesn’t surprise me. As much money as they make and how they value their employees. It’s a great company in that regard.
Well, when your games remain full price many years after release.
And you make profit off of outdated hardware.
I would be shocked if they couldn't afford to retain their staff.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has set a new record by selling over 3 million units within 24 hours, tripling the PlayStation 4’s previous launch day sales.
Its crazy that it's both the highest selling console on day 1 and people can walk into a store and buy it with no pre order
Unlike the Switch 2 , the Playstation 4 was not sold on the same day in most regions.
Company skipped last year's event.
Not surprising at all.
I mean, they´ll be releasing a new console in a few weeks.
the wii u or nintendo doesnt have to do a thing. you as an adult or person of free will have the option to buy a wii u or not to buy it.
i would never buy a nintendo console to be my main gaming machine nor would i buy it to game on occassionally. when will people see and learn about nintendos silly over-protective tactics and realize its meant for children and casual gamers.im a core gamer that likes to play familiar franchises and new ips that ahe standards tech advanced. i dont make excuses about what i like or want and nintendos path doesnt lead to my likes. there might be a few core games but they are tech inferior to the standards im use to so nintendo isnt an option.i know fanatics love to talk about owning all systems so they can play all games but im an adult who dont have time for a console posing as a core machine nor do i have time to game all day like some. nintendos machine as a core gaming device is a waste.
there are a lot of restrictions when it comes to nintendo consoles and games. some fans deal with it for the sake of playing exclusives and nostalgia. nes fa natics spin every negative about nintendo and lie to people and themselves for silly reasons. ask a nes fanatic what are the 5 most beautiful games graphically on a console this gen and you will start hearing a bunch of lies like "mario galaxy, conduit, and all sorts of rubbish just because they dont want to indicate that the playstation 3 is more powerful.
Every time i buy a nintendo console, im left with nothing but regret.. They have some cool games here n there but in between those games, MONTHs go by with nothing to play.. 1-2 decent 3rd party titles for my 3ds & theres still no zelda or metroid in sight.. Im really losing my patience with them & will sell all things nintendo that i own if i dont see any changes within the nx yr or so.. Ill give em til E3 to show me whats coming.. If i see all casual & kiddy games as their exclusives, im done with em...
