I’ve Never Played God of War

Peter Chapman:

I've never played God of War. It’s one of PlayStation’s most iconic brands, featuring one of its most recognisable and potentially interesting protagonists and it has spawned multiple sequels across numerous platforms. It leaves a gaping hole in my gaming history.

I have dabbled with the series at various times. I vaguely remember trying God of War II on the PS2 many years ago. I played bits and pieces of one or both of the PSP games (I can’t recall), Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta, on the PSP but no more than an hour or two. I played the first few levels of God of War III shortly after it came out and quickly lost interest. I bought the first HD collection in the US before it was released in the UK and never took it out of its cellophane before giving it away.

I came to GOW a little later and oh boy was I so pleased to play both I and II just a few months before III. Such an epic saga.

was never interested in GOW1, was thinking (DMC rip-off with a big whit painted balled guy with no pants.. not cool)

but when I hit a barren spell with no other interesting games to play i got it to see what the fuss was about, and just after a few moments i'm trying to get out of the jaws of the sea monster, the game was packed full of moments like this, that turned me into a believer.

I played 2 back on the PS2 then got a PS3 but didn't really pick up GOW3 but i did recently and it made me wanna buy GOW 1 and 2 which i did as well and all are amazing.

Love God of War. God of War 2 was the highlight of everything the PS2 was capable of. The franchise is the greatest action adventure franchise I've played and I had just love the Prince of Persia and DMC games up to God of War. Just love it!

that is perfectly normal, nobody can like every genre equally, a game can be great for what it is but still not be liked by many.

only 1 out of 7 buy Halo for the 360, and only 1 out of 10 buy Uncharted, games supposed to be iconic exclusives.

me for example:

Halo yes , GoW no
Uncharted yes, GT no
Zelda yes, Mario no

I became a God of War fanboy the first time I saw in-game footage of it. Seeing Kratos ripping an enemy in half was the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Loved GoW 1 and 2 but was really dissapointed with 3. I just felt the story took a serious nose dive compared to 1 and 2.

Part 2 for me was the best in the series.

I totally agree, the story in 3 was weak and Kratos character U-turn at the end was done really badly.

MariaHelFutura4160d ago

The story in 3 was that he's was on a killing spree of the Gods and that he did. IMO. It is one of the most EPIC feeling games ever created and I mean that literally, not using slang. Through the theme and sound design not many games have accomplished that aswell as GOW3 did.

Meh not interested in gameplay, but love to see the violence and scale of the game. It's too epic

God of War: How Atreus Could Become Just As Cool As Kratos

Might be in a minority here but I didn't enjoy any of the sections playing as Atreus or having companions at all. If I had my way it'd be Kratos on his lonesome from start to finish. Straightforward action gameplay without the endless boring chatter.
