Why Yoichi Wada really delays FFvsXIII

HiddenMission writes: I think by now it's pretty clear to all from the writing on the wall that Final Fantasy Versus XII will not come out until the end of this gen or sometime during the next. Mr. Wada has made it very clear that he cares less about the Final Fantasy fan and cares more about multiplatform titles due in part to the fact that they bring in more money. Yes that's right it's all about the money.

It's all about the money and making sure share-holders are happy with these major publishers

It was pretty obvious anyway. It's the same case as the current WWE. Whatever happened to the Attitude era? Everything now is PG so that everyone can watch it and hence will give WWE more revenue.

More hardcore games from the past have become easier (Diablo 3 a prime example - Auction house anyone?). Activision releases a new CoD every year, it has become too casual. But all of that brings in more money - Blizzard gets a lot from real money auction house. Every new CoD sells - Black Ops 2 will be no different.

Same crap in the music industry as well. Shareholders don't really know much about what they invest their money in, but don't tell them that, because they will get offended and pull their money out. lol

They don't "get" long term investments , even though that is kind of what they are putting their money into.

Blacksand14253d ago (Edited 4253d ago )

i think its coming on PS4. Maybe they push it back, that's why we haven't heard nothing

Elda4254d ago

It's obvious this game is large in scale & they're taking they're sweet time developing it & probably with a small developing staff, knowing it's exclusive to the PS3 maybe that's another reason they're not focused on pusing it out so fast & Sony may not be backing the project so Square is not not so enthusiastic only Nomura is,but this is only my opinion.

torchic4254d ago

that's not an excuse though. Final Fantasy XIII dropped in early '10, and as promised Square Enix should have gone straight to finishing Versus XIII.

had they done that we would've been playing that game some time this year or definitely beginning of next. Square have no excuses no matter how big this game is.

what's most disappointing is that we get no news, last trailer was released in January 2011.

it's so bad that I bet people are willing to pay for some info, a screenshot, a trailer, anything

Elda4253d ago (Edited 4253d ago )

It was stated by Square a year and a half ago that the game is in full production, the game is going to be very big also it's suppose to be on a different engine along with the new state of the art engine called luminess so it usually takes a good 3 to 4 years for a big game to be developed especially using top notch graphics & production,in all reality this game probably won't see a street date till 2014,people who are eagerly waiting probably will disagree but again in all reality 2013 will be all about FF-XIV & now the new Lightning Returns FF-XIII & knowing everyones waiting for FFvsXIII it will not be thown in the mix simply because it will upstage the other two games,I believe 2014 will be FFvsXIII year to finally shine, again my opinion only.

I get the feeling Wada is trying to put it off as long as he can so he can get them to put it on Next gen consoles because he knows the Nextbox will be more powerful to handle Versus so he can make FF Versus multiplatform without stripping content away from Versus like they did with FF13.

As the article says....

Multiplatform = More money and thats obviously Wada cares about...he would delay the game for this long just so he can see if theres a chance he can get it on the Nextbox AND the PS3/PS4

Thats my theory anyway

I know Nomura says he wants to keep it on the PS3 but Wada is still in charge, I wonder if Wada dosen't want to p*ss off Nomura so he'd rather wait untill next gen to do it. It's probably the real reason why he's decided to milk FF13 this long...so they still have an income coming in while they wait for Versus being completed and nextgen to come round

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4254d ago

If that's his idea, it's a terrible one. The install base for the next xbox would be crap initially. Like it is for all consoles. Delaying it as much as they're doing is going to lose them sales and cost them heavily.

Logically speaking, RIGHT NOW, they should be trying to get it out the door with everything they got.

Carl_Shocker4254d ago

Come on...this is Wada

What idea of his hasn't been terrible

We know what he's like

amaguli4254d ago

Why he delays Versus? Easy, to give people an excuse to buy the 13s.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled9d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog141d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake141d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic140d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan141d ago

How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman141d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator141d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno141d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior141d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake141d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
