Two Bad Arguments Against Skyward Sword

ZD writes: Alright guys, got a new video. This is a video I decided to do recently after repeatedly hearing these two arguments or criticisms against Skyward Sword. The first is that the controls are unresponsive, and the second is that Skyward Sword has sold poorly. I have come to the definite and final conclusion that both of these criticisms are completely false.

people who have problems with the motion controls... are just bad at the game... simple as that.

The motion controls were not the problem for me, The lack of real freedom was the problem. Not only was I totally annoyed by the unskipable handholding and linear direction, the game has like 1 town and 3 locations which you were frequently backtracking to.
I've friends who have loved the zelda franchise since the beginning and two of them didn't even complete skyword sword, and that's saying something.
Ocarina and Majora are in a different league.

Eeeh Zelda has always been linear as you need item X to get to Point B.

There was never a real freedom. Having the feeling there is doesn't change the fact that you always had a linear path to get to the end.
Doing sidequests doesn't make it "free" either.

Majora's Mask: 1 town and 4 locations you constantly backtracked through.
Ocarina of time: Still a lot of backtracking with "fake" freedom in the fact that they made you feel like there was more. You backtrack to the forest, kakariko, lake hylia and zora's domain, the desert as a kid and adult, death mountain.
Windwaker: You backtrack across the ocean to places multiple times, similar to the layout of zelda 1.
Zelda 1, 2 and ALTTP: YOU BACKTRACK EVERYWHERE.

And then there's what you call unskippable handholding, which I assume you mean the in between dungeon quests that progress you to the next area? If not, I'm still gonna explain this since I hear a lot of people complain about these in Skyward Sword. What were all of the quests leading up to dungeons in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask? They were unskippable. And the same things in Windwaker and Twilight Princess, "fetch quests" or in between dungeon quests that add time the game are not new to the zelda series. I guess some people just enjoy some more than others, but I personally think the Triforce collecting quest in Windwaker is the worst one. Nothing in Skyward Sword ever came close to feeling as tedious.

They just didn't need to be forced on the player. If you prefer classic controls over motion, then that is a legitimate issue for those who don't want to swing their arms around all the time.

They should have given us the option.
