The Elm Review - Say ‘Goodbye’ to the World… ‘Skyrim’ is Here to Take All Your Time

The Elm: My God, the battle music. I found myself getting lost in the intensity of the world around me as my mighty blade cleaved through flesh and bone. The Nordic influence is apparent as a choir of burly men shout out the Elder Scrolls theme in the Dragon Language while I fight off a frost troll with my fire spell.

Skyrim’s composer Jeremy Soule really outdid himself for what I must admit is one of the best video game soundtracks ever made.

I used to play World of Warcraft, then I took an arrow to the knee.

I love the music... It feels like Assassin's Creed, Pink Floyd (Shine on you crazy Diamond, but only at a specific part!) while also being original. Not saying it was influenced, but that I can hear the similar scale relations with the notes that are chosen in specific order.

ANYWAY, yes it's excellent. Many games I pop in some music on my Ihome but on skyrim I just can't do that!!

It's a shame I have to reset my PS3 every 45 mins due to the lag :( Skyrim I love u.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast20d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22920d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko20d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
