Xbox employees are bracing for what follows more layoffs.
They really seem to believe every gamer cares about Call of Duty games, while so many gamers flocked to a service like Gamepass because they cared about all kinds of different fun genres to try out and enjoy.
Call of Duty holds absolutely zero value to me and many others.
These decisions about the gaming industry these past few years have been made by suits who just look at spreadsheets and buzzwords, and have absolutely no clue about what kind of industry they're in, and what ('classic') gamers want (from a console) ... which is a wide variety of games across different genres.
These suits just want everyone to stick to 2-3 genres they can sell to you as a service or subscription so they can keep monetizing the exact same thing over a longer period of time, and that simply is just never going to work, at all.
The industry is truly in a depressing era right now. Just look at a game like Forza Motorsport (full-scale SP career mode with plenty of tracks and cars) to see what was and what is now left of it (Always Online, barebones minimum of tracks, focus on online MP, etc) a hollow glossy shell of former greatness, because instead of releasing a game, they want to sell you a service and add stuff over the years to come ...)
Unless these studio-execs wise up about what a game console is, and what it should offer to most of us gamers, our hopes is now on indie-devs, as well as devs from emerging markets to pick up on these opportunities.

Game pass hasn't even hit the enshittification stage.
Xbox has proven they have no direction, they aren't looking after the developers they've acquired.
Competition is good & very much needed but Xbox has been a joke since Don Mattrick left, the only thing I've heard from Xbox since 2014 is words, empty words.
I can tell you now, there will be A SEPARATE cod tier of gamepass

You live in an alternate fanboy reality if you think game pass is profitable while in reality Microsoft is firing people, closing down studios, raising prices and making their games third party.
Some people just want to be lied too I guess...
They have investors and a board they are required to report to. They can lie about a lot of things and do, but profits ain’t one of them, especially in court lol
You don't understand, when we see the investor reports on this site they are reporting revenue not profit.
Microsoft has lost multiple legal cases for misleading investors.
It's well know that they manipulate and hide costs and losses in other reports in order to be able to present positive reports to their investors and the public on products they are trying to drive..
Why do you think they are closing down studios making major cuts to staff increasing prices and lowers rewards? It might actually be worse if game pass was profitable and they were doing this.
No Xbox needs to be sold to a company that wants to grow gaming instead of what we have, a company that wants to own gaming... and get you to rent games.
All these articles speculating and guessing when what you need to do is look at MS and how they conduct business, they buyup, take the IP's, tech, etc they want, consolidate then shut down.
Smaller studios are chaff to MS, they have control of some of gaming's biggest IP's to use as leverage and are moving on.

Thanks to the users/admin who voted for my review. Hope everyone enjoys my coming user reviews/blogs/n4g presence in general. Basically on a 2011 shooter hiatus right now with the likes of Homefront, Brink, etc.
