Games just “fancy toys” to some publishers – Six Days In Fallujah dev

The man behind controversial game Six Days in Fallujah has hit out at the treatment of what was “much, much more than just a game,” going so far as to say that, to some senior games industry figures, games are “nothing more than fancy toys.”

You know what people are doing my head in so I'm going to have a little rant here, Who told you stupid people 'Video Games' are just for kids? Are video's just for kids? Are Games just for Kids? (Olymic Games, Board Games,Sex Games) Are any of these seen as childish? So why are video game's That often cost way more then the average Child Could afford?Now If it was for kids would They have an Age Rating System like when YOU GO TO THE CINEMA, You ignore Pricks could learn alot from games so much there thinking of bringing them into education!,And yeah I love to game It's a great for of entertainment and challenges my mind and allows me to have fun with friends when I'm not even with them! moreover, they (publishers) should see (as is your point) that games can be marketed directly to adults but aren't.

They just aren't taken seriously and when they should be, like Homefront, somewhere along the line someone decides it should be nerfed and released unfinished regardless of the budget, time, and how much it could really appeal to mature audiences.

when i first saw some video of Six Days it was a truly hardcore gaming experience with very deep and immersive gameplay that had a serious edge to it. I was very excited about the depth of violence, action, and realism in the game.

I just hope they haven't softened it up too much after the media attack. Video games aren't just for Kids especially those Rated M for Mature meaning you gotta be 17 years or older to buy.

video games are entertainment and with all entertainment you have family friendly style and Adult only style.

thinking gaming is a toy is a very dangerous way of going about making a game and very irresponsible. as we see what the content of some of these games are and you wouldn't let a 6 year old play something like Heavy Rain, or L.A Noire or something like Bulletstorm because of the content and language used, not to say that it will turn them all in to killers either. but it will colour their view and we as gamers need to be responsible too.
These games do have an age rating for a reason.

I followed this game pretty closely a few years back, and I remember the devs saying it was really meant to pay tribute to a real life squad of soldiers who experienced the start of the quest to secure Bagdhad in the first weeks of the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

What sucks is, not just that the game was never made, but because videogaming was the medium that was chosen to present the story, it was shot down and not seen as "relevant" by the press and the genereal public... But meanwhile, all those people likely flocked to theaters several years back to watch "Blackhawk Down," which accomplished the same thing that "Six days in Fallujah" set out to do, but apparently in a more 'acceptable' storytelling medium. Complete bullsh*t.
