20 greatest racing games

As a genre, the racing game can be seen as a bit of a one-trick pony - where's the fun in driving around a circuit lap after lap after lap? But in reality they're a genre that have, if you'll pardon the pun, consistently driven innovation across the games industry.

Gran Turismo at top of the list without reading.

schlanz4908d ago

No F-Zero GX anywhere in this crappy list. Fail.

And having GTA and Super Mario Kart in the top 3, is this some kind of a sick joke? Don't get me wrong, I love both games, but GTA isn't a racing game and Super Mario Kart isn't even the best one in the series.

Super Mario Kart *is* the best in the series.

Not gunna give it a hit...but they betrer have ridge racer 4.....That was my baby!!

CountDracula4908d ago (Edited 4908d ago )

I bet Project Gotham 2 is on top.

GT2 second

Some games don't belong there. Although Gran Turismo revolutionized racing, I don't think it deserves number one spot.

My pick is either Mario Kart or Excite Bike.

Mario Kart double dash was the best one or the DS version. Excite bike deserves some consideration but Road Rash is there for the motor bike games. I think that GT3 is the best overall. Wipeout HD instead of the original. RR PSP is the best in the series. Burnout paradise may have the edge over 3 though both are seriously good. Grid 2 good choice. Micro machines or RC pro am tough call in my opinion. GTA3 is a stretch. The rest I can see why they are on there. Driver yes. Crazy Taxi yes. One of my favorite games that never gets mentioned is a rare kart race on the PS1 called street racer. Multiplayer was great and the frame rate was high you could puke it was so smooth. Good times.

mario kart & excite bike over GT, are you serious?

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

wait...

HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHHAHAAHHAAHHA AHHAHAHAHAHA

PS3Freak4908d ago

I don't know why the put prolouge first. Gt3 or 2 would have been a better choice, since they were both full games.

No Daytona?
No Midnight Club?
No Pitstop II?
No F-Zero?
No Championship Sprint?
No Chase HQ?
No Rollcage?
No F1 97?

And how, how can they forget Dodge Em?

Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell Of Ar Ciel Retro Review – Love Conquers All

Gary Green said: You’ll be forgiven if you haven’t heard of the Ar Tonelico trilogy. The previous two games arrived so late in the PS2’s life-cycle that they simply went unnoticed. While most were tinkering with their shiny new PS3s, Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia and Ar Tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica were being ‘returned to sender’ by your local Game stores. Luckily, you won’t need to have played them to understand and appreciate this third and final chapter, Qoga (pronounced k-yoga) tells the story of a racial war between humans and Reyvateils, a breed of biologically produced female cyborgs capable of reproduction, while still having a digital mind.

Oh my god. I kinda wish this would get a remaster on PS5, it would be awesome. One of my favorite games on PS3.

That and 3D Dot Game Heroes. It's a shame that some stuff is stuck on PS3.

Ar Tonelico 3 is good I still prefer the first AT game. The music is solid in all the games and Akiko Shikata is a very talented singer bringing life to the game. Only annoying part is well I find is Saki I always choose Finnel or Tyria. KOEI so needs to HD remaster the franchise along with Ar Nosurge and Ciel Nosurge since it never came to North America. I would day one the Ar Toneliceo games and Ar Nosurge if they were remastered.
