BattleBlock Theater Preview (RunDLC)

The Behemoth rocketed up the Xbox Live charts with Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Now the talented developer has another game up its collective sleeve, BattleBlock Theater, a cute and violent 2-D action game with lots of platform hopping and carnage.

I have big respect for these guys, always love what Behemoth pumps out. Interested to see how this turns out

Definitely. They haven't let me down yet. Can't wait to check this one out.

You can't go wrong with dictator cats carrying hammers. So much of this game remains a mystery though. Not sure what to make of it. Is it Smash Bros.? Is it its own thing?

Buff10445004d ago

Definitely has a Super Smash Bros. style vibe to it. But I don't think it's that simple.

Regardless of whether it rips off games or stands on its own, I love the developer, so this seems like a must play at the moment. They're 2-0 so far.

Yeah I'm 100% down, and with Castle Crashers coming to PSN, I'm set.

Interesting story. I haven't heard about newgrounds in years. The site was great and I hope the people that still frequent the site choose to support it. If not, you should give it a Viking funeral.

Here's Why You Need to Play Battleblock Theater

Geraint at GameSpew.com writes: "From The Behemoth, creators of Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers, comes this little gem of a puzzle-platformer.

Having grown up on early-90s platformers like Commander Keen and Cosmo’s Cosmic Adventure, and playing both of The Behemoth’s previous titles, it seemed only a natural choice to pick up the fabulous Battleblock Theater.

The Behemoth have advanced their status in the gaming world by finally adding actual speech to their games instead of just speech bubbles filled with witticisms and exclamations. They have employed the voice talents of Will Stamper of Newgrounds, StamperTV and OneyCartoons. Here, he is the much-loved-and-loathed narrator."
