Run out of AAA titles to play this summer? How about finding some cheap, underrated games to play next month?
Here are 5 of the great underrated games this generation.
The inFamous games are an important part of PlayStation history, but the series is in limbo and playing older entries isn't exactly easy.
Would like remasters of 1 and 2. I enjoyed them much more than Second Son.
1 & 2 had more of an emphasis on climbing and the traversal requires a bit more effort in a good way. It was rewarding. Second Son made climbing mostly obsolete so they put little effort into it. The traversal was just great in inFamous 1 & 2. There's a reason Sunset Overdrive copied and improved upon the induction grind mechanic.
Reminds me of how I felt about the decline of parkour and the well designed tombs (basically Prince Of Persia levels) that we saw in the Assassin's Creed games.
The story and atmosphere were also much better in 1 & 2.
Electricity is just a brilliant superpower for an open world city. It perfectly fits just like webslinging does in New York and it has many applications.
Wouldn't the onus be on the consumers? If they bought the Infamous games, then we'd have more games from that series.
I would love to see a new game but a feel that would get a response similar to Saints Row.
Loved all 3 of them. I couldn't get on with the vampire spin off though. Wish they didn't move away from cole but I didn't mind the other character.
I had it all wrong...Blue Dragon is awesome!
Lost Odyssey is one of the best jrpgs of that era but got killed because it was bought up and released on the "wrong" console.
Great game. The 360 had some really good turn based games back in the day. Absolutely loved Lost Odyssey too. I think they are both Sakaguchi creations.
This game together with Lost Odyssey, The Last Remenant and Tales of Vesperia convinced me to buy a 360. This game made my 2007 which ended off with mass effect.
Honestly, a fantastic game, especially if you were a fan of old-school JRPGs. I hate that this genre rarely can come back to these roots.
Destructoid: I remember where I was when Blue Dragon was announced. Although I already had an Xbox 360 and was ready for it, some folks I knew bought one just for it given who was involved (Nobuo Uematsu, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Akira Toriyama): as Mistwalker and Microsoft Game Studios made a mad dash to put out more games from Japanese studios on the Xbox ecosystem.
Blue dragon was fantastic. Love that game. It was my biggest reason for getting a 360.
i wanted to play it, but ...
1. its on xbox
and 2. i missed it when it was on gamepass ha.
I thought it was pretty good but I personally I think Lost Odyssey is better
Also, I know a lot of JRPGs are cheesy but damn…this one was amped up to 11.
I really wish Mistwalker would remaster these games... they're too busy with mobile unfortunately.
FINALLY a list with Folklore!!!! Infamous was also criminally underrated in my opinion. Mad World didn't do well cause it was a very mature game for the Wii, they should have made it for 360 or PS3.
Infamous is a great game, but I don't think it's underrated (except by the negative, biased and sometimes downright retarded reviewers, and their opinions don't matter).
Blue Dragon does not have the cast of interesting characters and monsters to captivate the Western audiences. It's also a genre which is slowly dying in the west.
Folklore is a great game, but they could have hired better voice actors. It's a colorful and kind of unique game.
MadWorld was released on the wrong console. It could have been far more successful on the other consoles. But you don't release a bloody, violent, and artistic game on a family console.
Infamous has an 85% and is underrated? lol wut? Surely you mean overrated amirite?
I know I am in the minority here but I didn't like Infamous. I found it boring and repetitive, the voice acting was bad, and graphics cheezy. I did like the cutscenes however and the twist ending was pretty sick, but the game didn't do it for me. I don't know why but I prefer Batman: AA and Uncharted 1 & 2 much more.
I never heard of infamous being underrated. Then again its up to the person view of what is underrated. Some people thought the gave deserved 10s when it got 8s etc. I thought infamous was a solid 9.
I hope they improve on
1. The Blast shards. For god sakes put them on the map or something. Going around getting all 350 was a nightmare once you needed to search all 3 districts just to find the last shard.
2. The side missions. A lot was repetitive and very boring.... Love the game but the side mission was annoying. Please find a way to make them more fun.
