2010: The Year in Gaming... So Far

We've passed the halfway point of the year and its been a good six months for the video game industry. Between a bevy of high profile releases and an amazing E3 that highlighted gaming's past, present and future, it's a good time to be a gamer.

Am I the only one to find it ironic that the highest rated PS3 game on metacritic so far is a multiplatform?

I mean multiplatforms for sony fanboys is like garlic, silver bullets and wood cross for vampires...

Imagine garlic as the highest rated food in a vampire magazine...

EDIT:

Also found it ironic that the Xbox 360 had 69 released games and the PS3 have 57... Now everyone (inclusive me) knows that PS3 got more exclusive, then how the hell is this possible?

KingJFS5045d ago

45 multiplatform games appeared on both systems in the first half of 2010.

PS3 had 12 games that didn't appear on the 360 list:

3D Dot Game Heroes
God of War III
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City
Heavy Rain
MAG
MLB 10: The Show
ModNation Racers
Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
Super Bike World Championships SBK
Trinity Universe
White Knight Chronicles
Yakuza 3

The Xbox 360 had 24 games that didn't appear on the PS3 list:

Attack of The Movies 3D
Autobahn Polizei
Backyard Sports: Sandlot Sluggers
Bass Pro Shops: The Hunt
Blood Bowl
Borderlands: Double Game Add-On Pack
Deadly Premonition
Deathsmiles
Divinity II: Ego Draconis
Field & Stream: Outdoorsman Challenge
Lips: Party Classics
Mass Effect 2
Metro 2033
N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights
Naval Assault: The Killing Tide
Record of Agarest War (on PS3 as a downloadable title)
Risen
Samurai Shodown Sen
Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper
Sniper: Ghost Warrior
Supreme Commander 2
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction
Tropico 3
World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars (on PS3 as a downloadable title)

Nicely said. Don't worry if you get disagrees, fanboys get hurt easily. :)

SwiderMan5045d ago

PS3 has BETTER exclusives as of late.

KingJFS5045d ago

True, but the numbers don't lie. So everyone disagreeing can, in the words of everyone's favorite cartoon robot, bite my shiny metal ass.

jneul5045d ago

oddly enough that game has the highest rated game on x360 as well....
still I think it's overated and uncharted 2 is much better in my view, definately the best game so far in this generation, alongside with GOW III and Heavy Rain, to be honest more better quality exclusives have come out for PS3 this year so, sony does quantity and quality, that is something which the 360 is not doing right now as to be honest the only game worth getting that is exclusive was ME2 and that you can play on PC.

Michael-Jackson5045d ago (Edited 5045d ago )

nice list of Shovelware and PC/360 games. I'm so totally gonna get a 360 for those games :) ,Thanks.

And a good year it's been so far.

mobijoker5046d ago

ME2 has currently got 94 for pc on metacritic.Even its dlc Overlord got 86.How can these brainless kiddies call them reporters?A complete disgrace!N4G should filter these bullsh*t sites which cannot do a simple search on metacritic.

Bubbles for common sense.

I didn't realise this many good games had been announced. It's a habit of thinking when Naughty Dog or Insomniac don't release a game, it's a rubbish year for gaming. However, how much I am mistaken, I still haven't played GoW3 (despite being an utter Kratos fanboy), ME2, Mario Galaxy 2 (let alone 1), No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle, Alan Wake, Bioshock 2 or Modnation Racers. I still want to play Dark Void too.

Looks like a lot of ex-rental/secondhand catching up for me to do.

Still, next year is going to be incredible; Infamous 2, Killzone 3, Rage and Bulletstorm.

jetlian5045d ago

mass effect 2 is highest game on meta with 96 on 360

Fallout 4's 'next gen' update is over 14 gigs, breaks modded saves, & doesn't change much at all

We were expecting problems with mod support, but there are a lot of other issues.

isarai5h ago

Wow what the actual hell 🤣🤣🤣

just_looken5h ago

This is why you get the GOG version on gog you can select the version of the game to download.

On pc fallout 4 fallout new vegas and skyrim are all broken on steam because they all got the same "next gen" update.

Skyrim dec 2023
https://www.pcgamer.com/sky...

Can not find new vegas but anyone that modded it knows the script extender there was also broken

Valkyrye3h ago

Not accidental, they want modders to stop modding their older games to force them to mod Shitfield.

just_looken2h ago

There doing the same on starfield with a mods store and blocking mods

There goal is like blizzard and what they did with fallout 76 you make mods they can sell and you become a slave.

On skyrim they have "trusted" mod devs now basically a badge that lets your mod on the store you get a crumb of the sale when someone buys it.

Inverno34m ago

lol to the disagrees, the last Skyrim update broke mods too. They've been trying to kill mods to monetize them in creation club for years, it's not a stretch that they purposely put out patches just to break free mods.

Chocoburger1m ago

Over 14 GBs and doesn't change much at all? What? Taking up that much drive space for a pathetic 'remastering' is shameful.

Par for Bethesda.

Why Monopolies In Gaming Must Not Be Allowed

As of right now, there are no monopolies in the games industry, and for the sake of the medium as a whole, they never should either.

thorstein4h ago

Shouldn't be allowed in any field.

Inverno43m ago

And yet the biggest tech companies in America are essentially that. They buy up all the small comps only to kill them off and steal what they have, and if they can't buy em they bleed them to death.
