Apple's iPhone will be released on June 11

Ever since Steve Jobs' keynote at the Macworld Expo in January, we've known that the iPhone is being released sometime in June. But we haven't known exactly when.

Now Cingular is confirming that the release date will be June 11. A customer service manager at Cingular (we called 800-947-5096 and were transferred to sales) gave us that date late Thursday, but, alas, said he didn't have any additional information beyond that.....

Has that been confirmed?? If this is on Cingular and doesn't support 3G it is a total waste!! Thanks for the info because I was going to pick one up.. But also thanks for raining on my parade! (j/k)

ENNO6236d ago

unfortunatly if you want one you have to go cingualar...the whole ps3 and blu-ray scenarion played over again!!

razer6236d ago

But I'm sure it will come to the other carriers just like all the other phones out there. I hope they don't actually have an exclusive deal forever that would not be right and they are limiting their potential customer base.

You are correct, Cingular is the only one who will offer this phone. Verizon passed on this phone 2 years ago because Apple was asking for to much money including part of the customers monthly bill.

2 year contract $600 overpriced nothing special here
smartphones are usually $200 with a 2 year contract

Black Republican6236d ago

sorry guys

But I am just wondering what is
3G????

ENNO6236d ago

3G is just another provider like cingualr...as far as i know it was the first provider to provide video phone calls, but now has allot goin for it and the iphone would be perfect for it!

Blasphemy6236d ago (Edited 6236d ago )

3G is another way of saying third generation technology. It's a faster way to transfer data. Say serfering the web or downloading info. It's like having broadband internet on your cell phone instead of the slow dial up like service this phone will offer. I wanted an iphone but this phone costs too much to not offer 3G service. I'll wait until it offers 3G.

Xbox content + services up 62% while hardware down 31%... seems about right with the way they tout you don't need the hardware to play. People can play on their phones or smart tv or other means. I don't hardly play on my consoles directly since getting devices like the logitech g-cloud and ps portal. Which is to also say I have been playing more digital than physical because of these devices.

Why Monopolies In Gaming Must Not Be Allowed

As of right now, there are no monopolies in the games industry, and for the sake of the medium as a whole, they never should either.

thorstein9h ago

Shouldn't be allowed in any field.

Inverno6h ago

And yet the biggest tech companies in America are essentially that. They buy up all the small comps only to kill them off and steal what they have, and if they can't buy em they bleed them to death.

jwillj2k44h ago

Eventually they’ll realize the value is with the employee not the company. Buying an IP means nothing if the people who contributed are let go. They’ll get it one day.

MrCrimson4h ago

tech is different because they buy threats and then kill them. Twitter bought Vine and did nothing with it. Despite people seemingly liking it. Could've had tiktok a decade before bytedance. go figure.

Zenzuu5h ago

Monopolies shouldn't be allowed regardless. Not just for gaming.

MrCrimson4h ago

They buy IPs not talent. That's why these buyouts never work and the IPs die. Right now it's too expensive to develop games - but I expect that to shift maybe as AI tools can make it easier. The best games have been indie games for awhile as big developers fuck their ips to death with "games as a service" -
