Flash Cart for Sega Saturn In Development

Carl Williams writes, "The Sega Dreamcast and Sony Playstation both have, or are have in development, flash cart type devices. For those that do not know what a flash cart is, these are devices that have some memory onboard and hold homebrew games. The flash cart is seen by the console as it would see whatever format it uses, usually with a menu system of some sort for multiple games on one cartridge. The Sega Saturn, notoriously hard to program for and emulate, is now getting a flash cart of its own, at least one is in development."

Wonder why they haven't made a lot of the Saturn RPGs available on PSN? Would love to have Panzer Dragoon Saga and all of the Shining Series. Even the on rails Panzer games and maybe Burning Rangers... get on it Sega/Sony!

You named all of the most amazing games on the Saturn and as you can tell from my avatar, I am a big fan!
I am still baffled why these games haven't made on the PSN or XBL.
It was nice to see Nights and Guardian heroes being given a new life...we just need to see more, I'm saddened at times that Sega is at the helms of these classic games.

Agreed. I just checked and used copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga start at about $300 on Amazon. Crazy. I still watch vids of that game on YouTube from time to time and dream of the day I can finally play it for myself. I wonder why they haven't gone digital with it?!

I did too, but a modchip was much cheaper. Not only have I had the pleasure of completing PDS on my Model 1 Saturn, but I've been playing tons of great Saturn games.

Here's a fact a lot of people don't know about the Saturn. You actually don't need a modchip to play games burned to CD-R. You can perform the swap trick by putting in the CD-R, then swap in a retail disc for security check and quickly swapping back to the CD-R to complete the boot. There's lots of youtube vids showing how.

I still have my Saturn. It was one of my favorite consoles. Sad it died so soon. It did have a few gems.

You can get a Saturn emulator and run Panzer Dragoon Saga decently if you have a good GPU+CPU and lots of RAM. It's not perfect but its playable.

Great comments everyone. I remeberer having panzer dragon and the very first time I ever got to play quake 1. Even tho the graphics werent that great it was still an amazing game. Only thing I had to compare it to was doom 64 lol. I also remember really loving the 6 button layout on front. Worked great for pulling off akumas hell murder. Heck I ever remember spending long nights with friends until I perfected it... jab jab forward short fierce :) sadly I traded it in for a ps1 and have been sony since.

Notoriously hard to develop for and to emulate. Yet still has better emulators than the original Xbox ;). You rock Good Guy Saturn :).

I still have my original Saturn I got after finishing high school back in the late 90s, and all of the RPGs I got on it, from Panzer Dragoon Saga, to Magic Knight Rayearth, with Shining the Holy Ark and Shining Force 3. I even bought a backup system unused years ago just so I'd be able to keep playing after my first system finally dies. :)

I wish Dynamite Deka (as known in Japan)Die Hard Arcade (as known in the west) come to PSN. It was one of my favourite games on the Seaga Saturn along with Athlete Kings, Daytona USA, Virtual Fighter, Virtual Cop ect.

The most annoying this is. They actually remade all them games I just mentioned for the PS2 but only in Japan. Some of them actually made it the PS3 store but only Virtual Fighter and Daytona US. I wish I really wish Sony can somehow do a deal with Sega and bring the rest of the titles I just mentioned to the PSN store.
