this is just as expected considering recent gaming scenario as more people nowadays get overhyped for every generic first person shooter than an awesome hack & slash game

Even though most, if not all, hack n slashes are more generic than shooters. Rising did it right and its one of my favorite games this gen. But just saying, Shooters and H'n'S are on the same level of generic most of the time.

But generic shooter comes with generic multiplayer mode, and today's audience want mp.
Even Tomb Raider needs mp now days.

MGR is a good game, but it is to short to justify 60$ price, just rent it.

I'd say this is expected of: FPS Genre vs A completely different god damn genre that doesn't have COD in it backing it up.

Rising is great, but I think it had two things working against it. Gamers in the know seemed more than happy for a inevitable sales price because of Rising's reportedly short campaign. As for the more casual market (people that buy games ever so often, but don't necessarily visit game sites on a regular basis), the tv spot that Konami released in North America is extremely cheesy. I've seen it on tv quite a bit, and I roll my eyes everytime... and I'm a fan. I can't help but feel that the commercial failed to help sales like it should have.

Have you played the game?? Because if you have you would know that the actual game is very cheesy. I loved the game myself, but i would say the commercial pretty much got the writing head on. Almost all of the game is filled with corny one liners.
Clover904  +   655d ago
Haha, yeah, but it's a different cheesy! I loved the game, and maybe it's a little too japanese for the UK market (not sure how it's selling in NA). But then why does Metal Gear Solid sell through the roof? Cheesy one liners throughout the series, but that's why we love it!

lol....its only by 5,000 or so sales.....o its cuz of the use of the word "dominates"

crysis sucks
game can't get anymore shallow, then its graphics/game play.

Everything is all good. MGRising is selling incredibly well and the game is solid all the way through. No shame in its sales position and Crysis is an awesome franchise.

Of course it will...a shooter vs sword fighting game. A shooter will most likely win atleast on console.

Its not even a true MGS title. Real MGS is a stealth action SHOOTER.

Well crysis is on 3 platforms while MGR is on 2 so it would make sense.

Dominates? There are no numbers here so those could all be within a thousand units of each other for all we know.

I'm assuming this is the NPD list, so it's really not indicative of how the games are faring world wide. Even on VGChartz they have Rising a few hundred thousand units more than Crysis 3.

Metal Gear Rising was number 1 on the PS3 chat in the UK & sold significant amount in Japan. It's also a get game while Crysis 3 is awful.

In my opinion, Devil May Cry had better combat then MGR. MGR felt unfinished, and the games difficulty was unbalanced. Does anyone agree?

no...

I hardly say dominates. It sold more in the UK and in the US being in 3 different platforms while rising is only in 2 platforms. But in the first week Rising sold almost double the units of crysis 3 ( according to Vchartz ). So i guess Rising dominated Crysis 3 globally. As for the second week, no number out yet, except for the UK so far.
